Neo-Cons own this too

We wouldn’t be having these TSA pat-downs & invasive scans if Bush hadn’t started this ball rolling. Obama owns this current mess, but only because Bush gave him the power to do it.

“we need far more of his civil resistance in our citizenry”

Greenwald hammers The Nation for counting themselves amongst the legion of media bootlickers who bow before the might of government for the illusion of safety.

We need to apply a new label to these “journalists”, and that label is “coward”.

ETA: The Nation issues something approaching an apology.

ETA2: Balko slams The Nation even harder.

Smoked Turkey 2.0 Perfection!

Here’s how it looked at 170 degrees (fell asleep and left it on a bit long). Tastes great.

Turkey 2.0 almost done

Where 1.0 from this morning was at 160 degrees a mere two hours in, Turkey 2.0 is only at 150 degrees after two-and-a-half hours.

Side note: whatever ad agency decided to mix “Deck the Halls” with “Bust A Move” is staffed with geniuses. This opinion has nothing to do with the two glasses of Gewurtztraminer I’ve had to accompany post-feast chocolate-chip cookies.

Pork Roast Perfection

The pork was done after another hour or so. Turkey 2.0 is doing nicely too.

Smoked Turkey 2.0

So the blackened skin on the one I smoked this ayem is nigh inedible (although the meat is unbelievably smoky and good) and as the smoke is still going I figured I’d try a second one and not burn it this time. The pork shoulder is at 150 degrees so it gets a bit more time as well.

And done!

Just under two hours and the temp reads 160, so off the grill and onto a platter. The entire stick of butter is gone, melted into the cavity.

Added a Pork Shoulder

In honor of the late Acidman, whose smoked pork blogpost started me down this charred path many years ago. I still obviously don’t know what I’m doing, but it sure is fun and tasty to experiment like this.
