Cajun turkey?

Blackened bird –unintentional but still looks good. At an hour twenty I doused some more pesky flames. Skin splits are evident. Meat Thermometer reads 150. I figure another 40 minutes at most. Wife just informed me she was planning to eat in another three hours!!!! Sigh.

After an Hour

Posting live now, an hour in; the butter was probably a bad idea as it generated some flaming. Smells good tho. Some water doused the flames and on we go.

Turkey Over Hickory Chunks

I stupidly slashed Tom while cutting off the plastic net, so I dropped a stick of butter in the giblet cavity to compensate for any cut-induced dryness. Plus, slow-cooking inherently leaves moister meat. That’s what I’m hoping anyway….

Turkey Fire

When this burns down I will add a bag of lump hickory charcoal for the long haul.

Did I mention I have never smoked a turkey before? I am not scared. Nothing can’t be fixed by a liberal application of butter.

Real men make their own charcoal

Smoking the turkey part 1. Lighter fluid and briquettes are for pussies.

Remind me again

Why the UN is a good thing?

I know a lot of people get a nasty case of the icks when it comes to homosexuality, but I don’t think any rational person thinks it’s a killing offense.

We’re all gonna die!!!1!eleven

The snowpocalypse of Thanksgiving 2010 is upon the PacNW.

Thankfully, I’m getting to spend the night with The Wife (my employer called and told me to stay home). And seeing as how Tacoma City Light cannot keep the lights on this is a good thing.

Thankfully, I can now blog from my phone.

Unfortunately, our good man Scott is stuck at our place of employ and may not make it out of there tonight. So if you can read this, wish him luck.
