When Goths swarm
Btw, this album kicks my ass. I’ll probably be putting up other vids later throughout the week.

The High Plains Drifter didn’t leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left him.
I was an Eisenhower Republican when I started out at 21, because he promised to get us out of the Korean War,†he told GQ. “And over the years, I realized there was a Republican philosophy that I liked. And then they lost it. And libertarians had more of it. Because what I really believe is, let’s spend a little more time leaving everybody alone.
Set 20 minutes aside and watch Peter Schiff hand the FleaParty freaks their asses. Repeatedly.
When a commodity trader invokes Stalin’s systematic use of government to massacre the Ukrainians in a discussion of last week’s MF Global failure, you pay attention.
From the What are America’s Quirks? thread:
…seriously awesome shit that’s taken for granted.
There was an aircraft carrier docked someplace we went – I can’t even remember where it was, because the aircraft carrier was the most mindboggling gigantic thing I’d ever seen. People sort of stopped to see what we were staring at, slackjawed and drooling, raised an eyebrow when they realised it was the ship, shrugged and moved on.
Another time we pulled off some random highway on to a random road to a small, non-descript building. No signs, no fanfare…for the NATIONAL CRYPTOLOGIC MUSEUM. There are Enigma machines in there YOU CAN TOUCH. A CRAY YOU CAN SIT ON. That guy telling you about that telephone used to work for the NSA. Why is there not a line out the door around the block?
Didn’t know that existed. Yeah, that’s a must-visit for sure. Here’s a set of awesome photos from a recent tour.
When my father was in the Air Force in Germany in the ’50s, he did some classified radio intercept work. Seems he had naturally sensitive hearing, so they used him to tune in signals very precisely. Then they’d run the catch through a machine he said was called “the Witch.” I presume it was a codebreaking machine, but he said he thought it translated languages as well. Which would have been pretty damned advanced for the ’50s.
Major Chuck Ziegenfuss, who just deployed overseas, wastes no time in pushing Soldiers’ Angels’ Stache Bash — your favorite Mixed Martial Arts athletes teaming up and growing mustaches to support the troops.
The goal is that on December 10 when Jon Bones Jones faces Lyoto Machida, the cage is full of fantastic facial hair, showcasing amazing support for our men and women in uniform.
One of the teams is The Pit — including my nephew, the mighty Antonio Banuelos (at left).

One of those cool agorist kids in Free State New Hampshire.
It says “Liberty or Death” in latin. The skeleton is the inside cover page for the 1876 London edition of the Grey’s Anatomy book — Naomi Jeys
Free State New Hampshire seems to be working; ten years on, Free Staters have a significant presence in the town of Grafton and city of Keene, and growing representation in the legislature and, judging by one complaint, dominance of the state Republican party.
New Hampshire’s not my bag — I’ve been seduced by the sun since moving to Cali — but I’ve been mildly intrigued by Boston T. Party’s Free State Wyoming, and one of the side benefits to journeying to Sundance for the annual MOA Long Range Handgun competition would be that it’s in Boston’s preferred Wyoming county for Free Staters, so I’d be able to look around a bit.
I recently received Joel Skousen’s massively updated Strategic Relocation, and for those contemplating relocation for liberty’s sake, whether to Rawles’ American Redoubt or one of the Free State states, it’s an essential read.
As a child I read about a Mexican farmer witnessing the birth of a volcano as a fissure in his field. The volcano grew into a mountain that enveloped his field and an awful lot of surrounding land, as mountains do.

I’ve been waiting for one of those to show up in the US. Perhaps my prayers have been answered!
Bonus: Oklahoma might end up with a ski resort. You never know!
So what’s the problem? The problem is that you can accept all the basic tenets of greenhouse physics and still conclude that the threat of a dangerously large warming is so improbable as to be negligible, while the threat of real harm from climate-mitigation policies is already so high as to be worrying, that the cure is proving far worse than the disease is ever likely to be. Or as I put it once, we may be putting a tourniquet round our necks to stop a nosebleed.
I also think the climate debate is a massive distraction from much more urgent environmental problems like invasive species and overfishing.
Matt Ridley. You’ll want to read the whole thing.
