Why do people even run that line?
So it’s official, I-1183 passed in WA state, and the state is now out of the liquor business it’s held a monopoly over since the end of prohibition.
I voted for it. Â I voted for it last time, and I was pretty sure I was gonna vote for it this time, but the thing that cemented it for me, the thing that made me want to vote for it just outta spite was the crap like this.
I mean it’s like the anti-CC folks promising blood in the streets. Â These guys promised increased health problems & underage drinking. Â Seriously? Â You spin that line? Â Were you hoping that enough people in the state have never left the borders of WA and don’t have internet, or friends & family out of state, that they could not wonder & ask, “Are their other states with privatized liquor sales (yes) and what are their health & underage drinking stats (not any worse than ours are right now)?
Seriously?  You couldn’t look to see how well that fear-mongering has worked in opposing Shall-Issue legislation?  Dipshits.
Of course, liberals attacking Costco was a joke as well.  Costco is like a liberal dream employer.  They pay their people well (or so I’ve been told), promote from within, & offer very attractive benefits, so much so that they are never short of applicants, even in a booming economy.  Of course, they do it in part to keep the Unions out, but unless you believe in Unions for the sake of Unions, instead of for the improved working conditions Unions can bring, then this is a good thing!  Unless you drop $22M to help remove some state power, then you are a greedy corporation!
My wife is a lot more liberal than I am, and even she laughs at people like this because they are frickin idiots.
Perry’s Meltdown.
Oh dear. He’s done. I am no Romney fan, but I will now begin the process of acceptance.

Now you know why you can’t find any tampons at the store.

Hidden Agenda
I’m an atheist, but this is pretty cool:
Evangelical Chinese Christians have come up with a way to evangelize a large portion of the world that will never see a western missionary. These are countries with large Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu populations, most of them located somewhere along a 7,000-mile route stretching from Xian in central China to the cities of Jerusalem, Antioch and Istanbul in the Middle East. Those were the ancient terminuses of the famous Silk Road.
Mission experts estimate there are some 2 billion people in these countries who’ve never heard of Christianity. And what nationality has businesses and enterprises in every nation on the Earth? And which is the most populous country with the fastest-growing church? Starting several decades ago, Chinese Christians began to strategize how to secretly plant churches along this Silk Road through an initiative called the Back to Jerusalem movement. The idea was to start businesses in countries from India to Iran that would never suspect that the Chinese grocer or restaurant owner down the street would like to convert them.
Emphasis mine. Having grown from pretty much nothing to 100 million strong in just 60 years, I’d say the Chinese Christian community knows what they’re doing. Interesting. And brave, considering their targets.

Disneyland is much cooler than when I was a kid

That’s my 5-year-old nephew as a newly-minted padawan battling Vader in the background at the Jedi Training Academy. Soooo awesome!

.17 Hornet
I’ve got a Contender in .17 Fireball, which pushes a 20-grain bullet at about 4k*, but the slower .17 Hornet (now in factory mode from Hornady) looks interesting, if only for the trajectory match with .223.

Not owning an AR, I must ask: can one run .22 Hornet in an AR platform? Because if so, the .17 Hornet has the makings of a great AR varmint round.
* Come to think of it, I should chronograph my .17 Fireball. I think it’s a 14″ or 15″ barrel. I might duplicate .223 ballistics already.
