At the Capital Rally

I got to the rally in Olympia a few minutes late, it is cold and foggy. There’s a few hundred people here right now, I don’t think they are at the 1500 the organizers expected. But they’re here until 2 pm, and more people are trickling in.

There are two counter protesters way off to the edge of the rally. I’ve taken several photos of the event, will try to get them uploaded to a host later today.

For those out East

Why the hell are you still there? You’re overrun with Progressives AND are getting your second killer Snowgasm in 90 days.

WTF?

At least I have room here in the West to back my Progressives off a bit.

New Winner

In the contest for “Most Asinine State in the Union,” California just planted a foot in New York’s face and made the slam dunk.

David… you may want to prepare options. You’ve probably already done so to some extent. You may want to consider them carefully.

Quote of the Day 2/7/13

Brought to you by Police Chief Ken James of Emeryville, CA. The link will take you straight to the moment when every cop in the room facepalmed.

So the next time an officer of the law claims that he shot in self defense, we all know that it is bullshit. He was clearly on the offense.

Speaking of cops on the offense, these officers should be charged with about 36 counts of attempted murder. I am in full support of the LAPD limiting their capacity to 7 rounds.

Olympia Bound

Anyone planning to attend the gun rights rally in their State Capitol tomorrow? I heard about it on the Hickok45 youtube channel, which I recommend if you enjoy watching shooting and common-sense talk about guns from an old retired duffer. The rally in Olympia is supposed to start at 10 am and go until 2 pm. I plan to be there from 10-noon and then head to work since my shift starts at 2 pm. I have read that they expect up to 1500 people.

I’ll be sure to take photos.

Still not going on the cart

Hey all, look, my login still works!  🙂

No, I’m not dead, not even close.  Just got the new baby and all, plus getting ready to move to a new position at work (I get bored eas…. OHHHH Shiny!).

Anyway, your future Benign Dictator of All Mankind is doing well, growing like a weed – 9 months old and already almost 22 lbs, and as tall as a lot of older kids.  If he is anything like his maternal uncles, he is gonna be a bruiser (my wife’s uncles are big guys).  Crawling all over the place, pulling himself up to anything he can get a grip on, and then letting go to see how long he can stand free.  Doesn’t want us to feed him, because Damnit!, he figured out the pincer grasp & he can feed himself.  Just pile the food in front of him and let the dog in for clean-up duty (dog is gonna get fat….).

Cute as shit too, with a smile that just charms the pants off of every woman he sees.  Which can be problematic, because really, some women need to keep their pants on – no one wants to see that.

Anyway, just wanted to pipe up, announce my continued existence, and probably disappear again for another 6 months.  One of these days things will settle down & I’ll contribute content again.  Hopefully before he leaves for college.

PS – Adam Smith, Member of Congress from WA, is an idiot (I just got his letter in response to my “you vote no on the AWB, or I vote no on you” email – he’s not a bright one).

Unredacted

A stereotypically angry black man is making headlines at the moment. I don’t wish to give him any publicity, and won’t.

Nevertheless, it’s fascinating to see how the media, including some internet sites I’m surprised about, have censored portions of his rant. Here’s a link to an unredacted version, which is worth reading in its entirety if you have the time.

Happy Early Valentine’s, Dear

Our daughter’s birthday is Feb. 14, so for my wife and I we try to celebrate early.

@Sumo Sushi. The 2010 Hall Paso Robles Cabernet is veddy nice.

Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.

–Matthew Arnold, Dover Beach

(Theodore Roosevelt once spent eight days taking turns holding a trio of boat thieves at gunpoint in a Dakota ice storm. He kept himself entertained with Anna Karenina and the poetry of Matthew Arnold. Not bad choices, although Roosevelt’s Badlands neighbors all contended he should have shot the thieves dead and headed home with the boat. Would have made for a more comfortable reading experience, too. Ah, frontier justice!.)

BATFE Import Permit? For a Stock?

My brother mentioned he’d ordered a new stock for his M1A; he was just waiting for the ATF to approve his import permit.

His what?

Sure enough:

USA customers, please note: you will require a permit from the BATF in order to export the Blackfeather “RS” from Canada. When you place your order, you will be sent a BATF Form 6 Part 1 by email completely prepared and filled out for processing. (Permits have been returned here in as little as 3 weeks). It is a simple process!

Grumble gnash jackbooted grumble WHY?

Seriously, in this age of just ordering shit from wherever over the internet, I just assumed innocent parts like a rifle stock could be bought, sold, and shipped just like the Japanese DVD I received from a Thai broker the other day. Buying things from overseas, without necessarily intending to, is just normal nowadays for a lot of folks. Commerce is so smooth it’s easy to ignore the seller’s location, who cares? Hell, I’m so bad with Amazon nowadays I’ll occasionally use the “Buy Now With One Click” feature and be surprised when the book I ordered shows up from England. “Oh that’s why it took three days to arrive instead of the usual two.”

You know, after seeing this I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at a Democrat the same way
