I got to the rally in Olympia a few minutes late, it is cold and foggy. There’s a few hundred people here right now, I don’t think they are at the 1500 the organizers expected. But they’re here until 2 pm, and more people are trickling in.
There are two counter protesters way off to the edge of the rally. I’ve taken several photos of the event, will try to get them uploaded to a host later today.
A couple of the speakers have been decent. A few have obviously never held a microphone before. Lots of open carry evident, ARs, handguns, one guy had a lovely Mauser. There are quite a few WSP officers about but they seem pretty calm. I heard one of the troopers mutter to another “At least at these protests nobody throws things.”
And, if thing ever DID get bad, then the things being thrown would not be seen. Heard, perhaps, but not seen 🙂 But yes, the pro-second rallies DO seem to be extraordinarily well-behaved. Funny thing, that.
As promised, here is the album of shots I took with my phone. Nothing too spectacular I guess. I hear the sun came out just after I had to leave for work. http://tinyurl.com/avn83r5
