So, Here’s the deal

I let someone make me feel bad about forcing comment registration. So I tried to implement newer, tougher ways to block spam without forcing registration. I broke the code. I spent hours trying to fix the code. I said “fuck it, I don’t care if anyone ever comments here again”, and gave up. I’m not sure when I’ll have time to revisit it. I have a request for tech support to help me get rid of the dynamic publishing garbage that seems to be at the root of the problem, but who knows how long that will take. However, I feel really confident that no one will be forced to register to comment here, and no comment spam will accumulate, either. In fact, no comments of any kind will accumulate until I figure out what the deal is.

We now return you to our regular programming.

Saturday Gun Post

Not a whole lot from me today. This week was a killer with just a string of 10+ hour days. I’m going to take a 10hr nap.

But first, I have a picture of my Boomershoot rifle (sans scope). But because I’m a tease, I’m only going to give you a part of the picture today and one tomorrow and the debut it on Monday.

Here you go,

In other gun news, go wish Mike at Sworn Enemy good luck. He’s going on a gunshow roadtrip today.

Both Kevin Baker and Rivrdog have poignant things to say about the young woman who was kidnapped from the Wal-Mart in Texas and then later killed.

Count ANY Vote: Part Dvadtsat n Odin

Part 20.1 : The Day After The Big Court Battle

Yesterday Chelan County Superior Court Judge John Bridges gave the Repubs a big victory and a small loss and the Dems a small victory and a big loss.

The judge denied the Dems motion to dismiss the case. This was the big victory for the (R)s.

He also denied the Repubs motion for expedited discovery. This was the small loss for the (R)s.

The case will be continued until the discovery hearing in two weeks. The Dems are drafting another motion for dismissal for that date. and I’m crossing my fingers in the hopes that it gets denied as well.

Since the case is being continued, I am taking it that the final verdict issed from this judge will count then as if it was handed down yesterday (aka, within the 10-day period that allows a nullification of an election as prescribed by law).

See you then.

Post Inaugural Report

All in all, I think that the speech itself was a decent effort. If only Bush was as good at public oration as Teddy Roosevelt ot Dutch, it would have been a knock out. But I guess we can’t have everything.

Now let’s hope he acts on it.

Here is the text of the speech.

After you are done reading that, stop by the Babalu Blog and read Mr. Prieto’s and his parent’s take on it. It’s a wonderful thing.

And now we move onto the anti-inaugural protest round-up.

Michele Malkin has a good collection of links at her place.

But I must go on with my own as well,

First up, a group calling themselves the Internet Liberation Front (ILF) went and hacked at least five Republican websites in protest of the inauguration.

I guess they’re trying to liberate the internet from freedom of speech or something.

Here in Seattle, less than 1000 people showed up for the protests in the city’s commercial district that I mentioned yesterday. Of course, the organizers are saying that the number was actually somewhere between 5-6000. I guess everyone there has multiple personalities. Things were peaceful for the most part and only one arrest was reported.

So much for the Seattle PD and the ‘riot igniting tactics’ that the lefties here always complain about.

In unpeaceful protests, an Army recruiter, Sgt. 1st Class Jeff Due, had his table ransacked, his promotional items stolen and destroyed and was basically run out of Seattle Central Community College by a crowd of punks.

Just south my location, in Portland, OR, the smalls group of anti-Inaugural protesters (less than 500 or so) wandered their stoned little minds through the streets with their signs.

One pair of jackasses handcuffed themselves to the steel ‘pump guards’ and invited their loser friends to a sit-in, closing down a local Chevron gas station for a few hours to protest the “War for Oil! etc”.

Stationary Anarchists + Explosive Fluids = Fun for the Analog Kid. Too bad I was 175 miles away. Maybe the idea of handcuffing yourself to a gas pump will get popular in Bush’s second term.

But the big ‘to do’ was in Washington DC. I had a hard time going to sleep yesterday afternoon because I was watching the ANSWER portest on CSPAN 2.

The Analog Wife said that I would stop, mid-snore, to laugh at something one of the jackasses on stage said. I think it got to me a little bit, because the last dream I remember before I woke up was that I was ordering pizza on my cell phone.

I remember them bitching that Cynthia McKinney was being held back from speaking by the security checkpoints. I do not remember her speaking. But that is OK, I didn’t need the nightmares from that.

By now, I’m sure you’ve read about the attack on the Protest Warriors by the ANSWER folks. If not, here is a link.

And that’s it. Bush now has at least two good years to get things done. He can gain more by building up a viable successor. Let’s cross our fingers folks.

A good reason to own firearms

Those of us on the right remember the reason Condi Rice believes that guns are a personal right.

I hope this woman has learned the same lesson.

TAMPA – It was 2 a.m. Wednesday, and at least five people were pounding at the front door of Ayesha Colclough’s South Tampa apartment, shouting racial slurs and vowing to get her.

“Please, please, please, send someone to 4205 S Manhattan,” pleaded the terrified woman, according to a 911 tape. “I am sitting in my apartment and they’re throwing stuff at the glass window. . . . They’re all white. One of them is bald, and he has neo-Nazi tattoos on his body.”

Clearly audible in the background is screaming, cursing and the thud of fists against the door.

This bottle was thrown through a window with enough force to embed itself in the wallboard.

Follow this link and take a look at the attackers. Can you say ‘I think these skinheads have had too much meth?’

I knew you could.

All I can say is that she is lucky the police were so close. They need to arm themselves for when these coward’s friends come to town.

I can’t remember where I found this. I’ll try to figure it out and be back shortly.

Germany wants immigration limits

But only for Jews.

BERLIN – The German parliament’s Home Affairs Committee said on Wednesday that Jewish immigration from the former Soviet Union should continue, but urged de facto limits by calling for migrants to undergo German language tests and checks on their employment qualities.

You know, with their history in just the 20th Century, this probably isn’t the wisest piece of legislation.

And the leftists want us to be more like Europe.

No thanks.

Where was this guy when I was in school?

I think Dr. Patrick Hazlewood, the head teacher of St John’s in Marlborough, Wilts, UK is looking to be Cannonized by the students at his school.

All 12-year-olds at a comprehensive will be told today that homework is being scrapped because teachers have better things to do than mark it.

[Hazelwood] has already scrapped subject teaching, will not put it quite like that, of course.

He will tell them that, to make their schooling more “relevant to life in the 21st century”, they are to be given responsibility for “managing their own learning”.

What an dolt. If I had my way in school, I’d have “managed” my own learning of ‘technique de money bars’.

Next up will be the tagging of students with the bracelets they put on house arrest prisoners.

Ooops, it looks like that idea is already there.

Maybe this little whiner and his dad should move to the UK.

In an effort to teach educators a lesson about the importance of summer vacation, a Whitnall High School student and his father have filed a lawsuit against the boy’s math teacher that seeks to bar teachers from requiring homework over the summer.

In the lawsuit, 17-year-old Peer Larson and his father, Bruce Larson of Hales Corners, argue that school officials have no legal authority to make students do homework over the summer because the state-required 180-day school year is over.

“The importance of a summer vacation!?!”

What a jackass!

Northwest Humor

Rivrdog posts some very funny humor that is uniquely Puget Sound.

A blonde was feeling so depressed that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into Puget Sound.

She went down to the docks and was about to leap into the frigid water when a handsome young sailor saw her teetering on the edge of the pier crying.

He took pity on her and said, “Listen, you’ve got a lot to live for. I’m off to Europe in the morning and if you like, I can stow you away on my ship.
