Ted at Rocket Jones hates painting. Alas, he promised to do so over his four day weekend.

In painting, 90% of the job is prepwork, so I don’t skimp on it, even though I hate it with a passion.

Reading the paint can, I noticed the part that said if you want one-coat coverage, you should apply the paint liberally.

Anything to make the job go quicker, says I, even if I don’t understand the reasoning. I let the paint know how disappointed I was in it for being white and how it was inferior to paints of color.

I�ll have to remember that the next time I color the inside of the house.

And in case you missed it, Frank J has come up with a �Know Thy Enemy� that pertains to Social Security.

My favorites,

* Social Security is founded on the principle, that, because some people won’t save for retirement, all must be punished.

* If instead of the government taking the money you were allowed to take it and shove it up your ass, you’d get a better return on the money and not be quite as pissed off.

Getting Equipped for the Boomershoot

Since I’ve given up almost 2/3 of the pic over the weekend, feast your eyes on this.

In case you haven’t been following the story, it started out as a simple Rem 700 base model ADL.

I have since had a stainless Hart 27in Heavy Varmit Contour barrel, Jewell HVR trigger, HS Precision stock and Detachable Magazine floorplate installed. The stock has been lengthend to a 15 3/4in pull with the addition of a Graco 3-Way Adjustable butt plate and Pachmayr D550 Decellerator recoil pad.

I will be ordering my Burris rings and bases in the upcoming weeks to have this scope installed on it.

Total cost: Too much for me to admit to in public

Give me a few more weeks to pay the smith off and we’ll see if it shoots as well as it should. I would provide a link to the smith, but he doesn’t have a site. I am trying to remedy that because he does VERY good work. Anyone up for some unpaid voluteer work in that category would be welcome.

Inauguration Day: Looking back

Aaron at the FreeWillBlog points out something I noticed, but hadn’t yet commented upon from Inauguration Day.

When I was watching the ANSWER protest I heard a line a couple of times from the protesters on stage about how the Bush supporters were wearing fur coats.

What is the point of this crap? Is it meant to imply that Bush supporters are heartless bastards, and if so why didn�t they splash the red paint on them? I�m sure they already think that the Bush supporters are heartless bastards (I�m kind of proud that they think that of me, in fact), so why didn�t they bring the paint?

Did they bother to go up to those wearing the coats and ask if it was real or fake fur or did they just assume it was real because of their preconceptions and prejudices?

I thought they were the �Open-Minded� crew?

I guess that they�re so open minded their brains fell out?

Anyway, I wouldn�t have even brought it up except that al-Reuters decided to make it part of their report for the day.

Oh, that liberal media!

And another thing,

Why is it that I haven’t heard of any investigation of into which of the Congressional Dems gave their Inaugural tickets to the Code Pink protesters?

When and if we find out who it was, those members of Congress (reportedly from NY and CA should be immediately jailed for conspiracy to disturb the peace and anything else relating to crimes against Presidential security.

Sure, nothing happened, but what if these Code Pink losers had gotten a weapon through. Both you and I know that these dweebs hate GWB enough to kill him so as to �Save the World� from Bush.

An apology from the guilty Dem Congresscritters is not enough. They lose their seats and their respective Governors get to appoint replacements. What with Pataki and Schwartzeneggar both being Republicans, it should teach them not to fuck around with Presidential security again

Because you know the Dems would have made the same demands had it happened to Clinton or Kerry.

Oh, and some folks the left are making an issue out of Krauthammer and VDH’s commenting on Bush speech and not mentioning that they helped mold it.

What’s the big deal here? Why is this even an issue other than the left needing something more to whine about.

I’ll make you a deal; when Al Franken admits publically that he is the writer of the line “Girly Men” that the left has been calling ‘sexist’ ever since Schwarzeneggar used it the first time after being elected Governor AND Franken delcares it ‘not sexist’ in any way shape, form or usage, I’ll think this is a medium-sized deal.

Kos said twice (1 & 2) that there was right-wing media bias on Inauguration Day because of the number of conservatives on the TV shows.

Duh! It was the Inauguration of a conservative President! What planet does he live on?

Oh wait! Nevermind, he’s an idiot. Maybe he should have his friends at MediaMatters.Org go back and see who was on TV on the first Bush inauguration and the two Clinton Inaugurations.

Or maybe that would blow his whole point.

Have a taste…

How about BARBARA BOXER? You know. The crazy bitch who cried when she couldn�t force a fifteenth Ohio recount? Good stuff, Babs. Way to prove women are tough enough to serve in public office. While you were at it, you should have asked the President of the Senate�on record�for a Barry Manilow CD and a huge Midol suppository designed for PMSing elephants.

Not that Midol would have helped. Boxer�s cycles ended so long ago, she can be seen having hot flashes in cave paintings. Some women have PMS because their hormones force it on them. Boxer generates it deliberately, as a lifestyle choice. Like one of those cool guys in India who wears a diaper and gets off on breathing through his anus.

Going Unilateral

That seems to be what the The Center for Constitutional Rights are doing to try and get Donald Rumsfled tried on ‘War Crimes’ charges by going to Germany and demanding that the Office of the German Federal Prosecutor file charges.

German law allows German courts to prosecute for killing, torture, cruel and inhumane treatment, forcible transfers and sexual coercion such as occurred at Abu Ghraib. The world has seen the photographs and read the leaked �torture memos�. We are doing what is necessary when other systems of justice have failed and seeking to hold officials up the chain of command responsible for the shameful abuses that occurred.

Make sure you read that last sentence again.

Lee at Right Thinking thinks that the intent contained in that line is exactly what the US did when the UN voted to keep the status quo on Iraq and I agree with him.

Two more points,

First, since when are armed combatants, caught on a field of battle in another country on another continent entitled to US Constitutional Rights?

I am taking it that, due to the name of this particular organization, that they believe they are entitled.

Second, why is it that they are going after Donald Rumsfeld for something he had no hand in and leaving Castro, Kim Jong Il, the Iranian Mullahs and the Chinese government alone.

Oh wait, I forgot they’re just socialists with a stick in their ass and a hard-on of hatred for the Bush administration.

The Deal of the Decade!

I keep hearing lame charges of cronyism against the Bush Administration from the left. Maybe they should look into past administrations and compare?

But they won�t.

They also have been strangely silent about this….

Creating $192,000 job for UC chancellor’s partner stirs critics

The University of California created a $192,000-a-year job for the partner of the new UC Santa Cruz chancellor, a move that is being criticized by an employee union. Union officials representing staff at the 10-campus system say the move is a mistake at a time when the university is cutting budgets and raising fees.

UC officials defended the hiring of Gretchen Kalonji, the longtime partner of incoming Santa Cruz Chancellor Denice Dee Denton. They described Kalonji as a highly qualified professor who will be an asset in her new job as director of international strategy development.

Kalonji, a professor of materials science at the University of Washington in Seattle and an expert in international education, also is getting a tenured professorship.

What is that? Almost $200,00 a year and a job that she can never be fored from just for sleeping with the UC Chancellor?

Hell, I might even be up for that deal!
