Democrat Land Grab

Not happy with the King County Democrats recent proposition to make rural land owners in the county refugees on their own property by making it so that they can only use 35% of their own land, Senator Patty Murray (D-Dimwit) has once again proposed taking part of a National Forest and making it a �Wilderness Area�.

She has tried this at least two times before, and has even named the area �Wild Sky�. But both times, she was turned down because her proposed land grab included areas that contained pre-existing roads. She has gotten approval in the Senate for this, but she doubts she�ll be able to get it through the house.

Former Washington State Representative, George Nethercutt (R), who lost his bid to replace Murray in the last election, proposed a nearly identical idea last year in the house, minus the areas with pre-existing roads, but was slapped down by two other Washington Representatives Jay Inslee (D-Numbnuts) and Rick Larsen (D-Asshat).

Personally, I can�t remember the differences between a National Forest and a �Wilderness Area�. I think that roads are able to be built in a National Forest, but not in a Wilderness Area and there may also be some extra logging contraints. Maybe someone out there can remind me.

Either way, I sense ulterior motives here, possibly along the lines of wanting to be making the enviro-wackos happy.

Because they believe that land is better served when it is in the hands of the government, than in the hands of private citizens.

Q. What do you want people to take away from the program?

A. Coming up with an ending to the film was very hard. We didn’t want to be too judgmental, we had maintained a pretty careful objectivity… And at the end, you’re expecting judgment. And that’s a tough thing. So executive producer Mark Samels came up with a great idea, which was to end the film at the very beginning of the film. The film ends with the notion that there was one day in Cuba where all seemed possible, and when the hopes of an entire nation were put on the shoulders of one single man. I was very happy with that… because it leaves you with the question, was that good or was that bad?… I think the viewer has to make up their own mind.

Normally, this is exactly how I like my documentaries. Factual, concise and no agenda or preconceptions (I�m talking to you, Michael Moore).

But Castro is a monster who doesn�t deserve any of these considerations. I guess everyone but a documentary filmmaker would know this.

Well, the best way to make that “double standard” go away is to present all of the facts. But the left love Cuba, loves North Korea as symbols of progressive utopian living. So, which version do you get – that Cuba has a very high literacy rate, or that most of its people live in impoverished squalor and dissidents are summarily executed? Don’t think it happens? One need look no further than Moore’s depiction of life under Saddam to see the fallacy of that argument.

I haven’t seen this yet, so obviously can’t comment on its content. But I’m betting PBS won’t be able to overcome their socialist utopia bias to tell both sides in a proportional and evenhanded manner. In fact, I think the entire “ending at the front” construct is just a scam to keep from having to deal with the realities of a failed communist ideology. If you end at the start of the revolution, of course anything is possible. If you end at the present, then you have to reach some conclusions that make those enamoured of Fidel just a wee bit uncomfortable.

Especially after hearing news like this,

Trained ‘jihadists’ in Oregon, FBI says

The FBI knows of “jihadists” who have trained in terrorist camps in Afghanistan and now are living in Oregon, the agency’s Oregon chief said Tuesday.

“We don’t have an imminent threat that we’re aware of. But I will say this: We have people here in Oregon that have trained in jihadist camps in bad areas. In the bad neighborhoods of the world,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Jordan.

Jordan refused to say how many “jihadists” live in Oregon.

He said the FBI knows that “they’ve trained overseas, taken oaths to kill Americans and engage in jihad,” but the challenge is “to prove those things.”

So, they’re waiting on evidence. Let’s just hope that their ‘evidence’ doesn’t end up being a blown up shopping mall. In the meantime, I have my offensive SHTF gear ready.

Which is why I started writing the ‘By Ourselves, For Ourselves’ series. I apologize to those who enjoy those posts for not having one up these past two Mondays. I have the next entry written up, but I saved it on a disk because I write on my lunch break at work AND at home, and I seem to have lost the disk.

I don’t want to do a re-write, even though it was not a long post. I plan on spending this weekend scouring the Analog House and Truck for the damn thing. If I don’t find it by Saturday night, I will do a re-write and then kick myself for losing the original.

Getting Rid of a Lie

Memri has put together a small collection or reports from Arab writers that put to bed the lie that terrorism is the fault of poverty.

Now, folks on the right have known this for a while. After all, none of the murderers from the attacks of September 11th were poor. They were at least upper middle class in even when compared to US standards.

He’s Right, You Know

John of Some Poor Schmuck has a few words for Nicholas Kristoff.

If you don’t know, Kristoff is an Op/Ed guy for the New York Times. On his trip to Cambodia, Kristoff ‘bought’ two girls ‘out’ of brothels, apparently thinking he was freeing them.

Having a spent rather decent amount of time in the region during his Army years, John has this to say to Mr. Kristoff,

Nicholas Kristoff is a fool. He went to Cambodia and bought two girls out of brothels and thought he was Professor ‘enry ‘iggens.

If Mr. Kristoff wants to start a tradition, he could go back every year and buy the same girl from the brothel. I’m sure it would make him feel better and she could use the money.

John talks about a number of things that go on in Cambodia that most Americans wouldn’t even think of. If you want a quick and effective education, go and read.

That the Dems don�t know how to seize an opportunity.

Feeling strong in the City of Seattle, local Democrats are going to try and work their way around Initiative 200, passed just four years ago that got rid of preferential treatment for women and minorities in awarding government contracts.

They had been only somewhat successful using a specially made program called �BOOST� that had awarded 4.9% of the city�s contracted work and cost Seattle taxpayers 1.7million dollars. �BOOST� offered monetary incentives to major contractors if they sub-contracted out to small companies.

The City Council is now complaining that because small companies are also owned by white males, the women and minority owned businesses didn�t get the expected amount of the work.

Here is the Seattle Mayor�s new plan to skirt a CITIZENS INITIATIVE:

1. Try to make city departments and contractors more aggressively solicit bids from women- and minority-owned businesses.

2. Allow city contracts to set numerical goals for the share of contracts that should go to women- and minority-owned business.

3. Prohibit the city from contracting with companies that do not try to hire women- and minority-owned businesses.

In Mayor Nickels new plan, if you are male or if you are white or, heaven forbid, are both, you will be discriminated against.

The city will not pursue you for their contracts, they will mandate that if it comes between you and a female or minority contractor, you lose and they will refuse bids if they deem your record of hiring women and minorities as �not so good�.

I�ll say it one more time, it is those on the left and the Democrat party who are the racists and sexists of today.

They don�t burn crosses and they don�t wear white hoods, but if you are a woman or a minority, they believe that you will not be able to get anywhere without their helping hand.

And if anyone on the left wants to try and dispute me on this, remember, yesterday, you had a Grand Kleagle berating and chastising a black woman on the Senate floor.

Or has that been forgotten already?
