Keeping the dogs in line

The leader of the Klueless Kos Klan sees the ‘Compromise’ on judicial positions as a defeat for Democrats, but not because three of Bush’s nominees will, more than likely, be confirmed. He sees it as the Republicans controlling the ‘Democrat Agenda’.

I didn’t know they actually had one other than “Bush is an Eevviill Idiot.

So now there is talk about a Democrat ‘compromise’ on Bush’s Social Security plan, and Kos doesn’t like that one bit.

Why any Democrat would want to give bush “half a victory” rather than an anvil is beyond me, and completely and utterly unacceptable. Here’s an issue we have used to drive Bush and his allies into the ground. Here’s an issue that we can ride to major electoral gains in 2006.

He then goes on to stamp his wittle feet even more with a blockquote from Liberal Oasis’ Bill Sheer. You should go read it, even though it is as insipid as it is unrealistic.

Basically, the Dems have no plan and they like it that way. They are also willing to threaten their moderates to keep them with the party line.

But according to Kos and Krew, it is only the Republicans that always punish those who do not march in lockstep, never the Democrats. Watch for more switching of parties and big Congresional losses in 2006 if they keep this up.

On a personal note

While the posts below may indicate that I am in a fowl mood, in general, I am not.

You see, it is 0630 PST here and I just got done grilling up some BeerBrauts after work.

My neighbors going to work are especially jealous, if the looks on their faces as they drove past the side of my house are any indication.

I heard an ad on the radio last night for fresh Copper River salmon at the store down the hill from my house. Maybe later this week…..?

Anyway, the brauts are getting cold, gotta go.

UPDATE: Mmmm, tasty.

Nuclear Bombed

Well, it looks like the Republican’s “Consti-Nucle-Bryd option went ‘FIZZ’ yesterday.

Many thanks in the form of my middle finger go to Jackass-in-Chief and serial pussy-footer, John McCain.

In case you missed it, here’s the deal:

For their part, Republicans agreed not to support an attempt to strip Democrats of their right to block votes.

Under the agreement, Democrats would pledge not to filibuster any of Bush’s future appeals court or Supreme Court nominees except in “extraordinary circumstances.”

Oh boy! Right back where we were in 2001!

Can you sense the joy within me? No? Good, cause there ain’t any.

I just wish McCain would pull his head out of his ass and realize just how the Dems see this deal. It isn’t too hard, all he had to do was have one of his staffers read the Daily Kos:

They get some judges, sure, but ultimately, we can filibuster Bush’s next Supreme Court nominee unless he picks a moderate.

Is there any special jail time attached to the crime of bitch slapping someone if they’re a Senator?

It just goes to prove that compromise makes no one happy and that it is just better to have one winner and one loser.

Welcome

To the American Mainstream, Keith Thompson

Nightfall, Jan. 30. Eight-million Iraqi voters have finished risking their lives to endorse freedom and defy fascism. Three things happen in rapid succession. The right cheers. The left demurs. I walk away from a long-term intimate relationship. I’m separating not from a person but a cause: the political philosophy that for more than three decades has shaped my character and consciousness, my sense of self and community, even my sense of cosmos.

I’m leaving the left — more precisely, the American cultural left and what it has become during our time together.

I choose this day for my departure because I can no longer abide the simpering voices of self-styled progressives — people who once championed solidarity with oppressed populations everywhere — reciting all the ways Iraq’s democratic experiment might yet implode.

And the final kick in the nuts:

My estrangement hasn’t happened overnight. Out of the corner of my eye I watched what was coming for more than three decades, yet refused to truly see. Now it’s all too obvious. Leading voices in America’s “peace” movement are actually cheering against self-determination for a long-suffering Third World country because they hate George W. Bush more than they love freedom.

Keep it up, leftists. You’re losing more and more people everyday with your hateful rhetoric. The Mainstream accepts freedom loving folks from all walks of life as you all just get angrier and angrier.

Waiting

For the “Howard Dean is a stupid monkey who gets confused easily meme to come out from the Dems.

DNC Chairman Howard Dean, on Meet the Press 05/22/05:I said I wasn’t sure, but I said I thought there probably were. But the thing that really bothered me the most, which the 9-11 Commission said also wasn’t true, is the insinuation that the president continues to make to this day that Osama bin Laden had something to do with supporting terrorists that attacked the United States. That is false. The 9-11 Commission, chaired by a Republican, said it was false. Is it wrong to send people to war without telling them the truth. And the truth was Osama bin Laden was a very bad person who was doing terrible things, but that Iraq was never a threat to the United States.

Of course, Dean MEANT Saddam Hussein when he said bin Laden.

When Bush gets names mixed up, he’s an idiot. When Dean does it, he was just getting ahead of himself.

They’re a little late

Doncha think?

A week and a half ago, the CATO Institute released a story about 450 highly respected economists, a list including several Nobel Laureates, who support the option of private Social Security accounts.

Thanks CATO, we could have used that list around, oh, fucking March!

Anytime this subject comes up, either on left winger websites or on looney left wing radio, I have to listen to some geriatric, cornholing, econo-socialist whose name I can’t remember right now because I’m so pissed off, talk about how “Bush is a foolâ€? and “It’ll bankrupt the who SSI/Medicare systemâ€?.

And of course the lefties worship the feces this guy drops in his adult diaper, even though 90% of them don’t know cash from credit when it comes to national economics.

Thanks for trying CATO, maybe we can use it next year.

Everett’s Leave

My brother-in-law, Everett, is home from Iraq on 14 days leave. He arrived on Wednesday evening of last week.

You may remember him from the week of pictures I posted back in April

This is part of the email I got from the wife’s mother:

Hi Guys,

Ev got home last night at 7:05, Leann had signs and flowers and flags. Their vehicle was all decorated and Ev was all smiles. He had had 4 hours sleep since 7 pm our time Sunday night.

He was upgraded to first class on the Dallas flight, had the water trucks spraying an arch over the plane at Salt Lake and had 2 standing ovations on the Montana stretch of the flight. Plus more offers of a drink than he could shake a stick at. Several people at the airport came up to him and told him thanks and what a good job he was doing over there. And of course Ev could stand and talk to all of them.

I imagine he’s still sleeping, his belly’s full (he wanted a REAL hamburger and fries). Then he was going to take a hot shower and not worry about sand blowing on him while he was still wet (:}) More later after we talk again.

Thank you, America. Everett is flattered and grateful.

I hope to host Everett and his family sometime during those two weeks while they are out here taking some family time at our seaside attractions.

By Ourselves, For Ourselves: Part 6

SHTF Vehicles

My apologies for taking so long to get this up and out. If you are new to the series or need a refresher, you should go here and read up.

In the previous set of posts we have covered getting your home ready for public unrest either due to a natural disaster or a terrorist type attack. We assumed that things weren’t too bad; power grid down, hospitals not functioning, no water or gas for your home or car and maybe some roving gangs of thugs. Basically, you can probably just hunker down for a couple weeks, covering your home base and providing for your family until things improve.

Now I’m switching it up on you.

This essay will take into consideration the possibility that something so bad has happened that you need to leave your home base (i.e.: flooding, a dirty bomb, etc.) and you need transportation to get to your back up location. You do have a back up location, right? Never mind, we’ll get into those in the next essay.

This is such a vast topic, with many opinions of how to do it right that I couldn’t cover this one all by myself and had to call for backup. Rivrdog has lent a hand with this subject at his preparedness site, Paratus. After you’re done here, I suggest you take a little trip and go read his essay. He and I may have minor, almost cosmetic, differences of opinion with this topic, but all in all I think we see eye to eye.

I have a back up location that is quite rural. In fact, you should probably have a capable 4×4 to get to it. So I will be taking the position of four-wheel drive being a necessity for a SHTF vehicle.

Can you tell we’ve got Democrats in charge?

Here is Washington State, conservatives are fighting to keep the place from being turned into a figurative province of Canada. Our selected governoress (aka Queen Christine) has decided that 129 votes is a ‘Mandate’ to use her first four months in office to make Washington second only to California when it comes to stupid laws.

She recently signed into law a bill that makes it so our new cars have to meet California’s uber-strict emission standards by 2009 and another one that says all newly constructed government building must be ‘Green’.

The environut lobby has planted themselves firmly behind her chair and are chanting into her ear. The first bill is going to raise the price of a new car in Washington to where people will drive the extra couple hours to buy them out of state, costing jobs, and the latter of the two will add 20% to the cost of construction of all new government buildings when you factor in the ‘Green materials and extra regulations.

Of course, it won’t be too long after that the envirodweebs will say “See, it worked for the government buildings, why don’t we make everyone do it? just like in, you guessed it, California. We’ll be required to spend an extra $30k to pay for the solar panels and flatulence de-ionizers.

But remember, 129 votes is a mandate: 3 million is not.

Here are a bunch of links to other stupid things going on around here:
