   Actually, Mad Rocket, that particular form of sophistry is present at the very core of most liberal thinking. The idea that PRINCIPLE doesn’t matter, only INTENT (and at that, only INTENT which improves the lot of the collective du jour), is at the very heart of the “Living Constitution” argument.

   What the founders meant is not considered a guiding principle any more, in our times it is, at best, a point for debate but not guidance.
