[REC] 2 is worth watching

This film is a sequel to [REC], and even though I have not seen the first film, this one stands on its own. A well-done take on the quasi-zombie genre, somewhat in the vein of 28 Days Later, but with a twist. It’s available On Demand from Comcast right now.

Decent gun handling throughout; first film I’ve seen where a character comments derisively on another character’s repeated nervous racking of his shotgun.
It’s in Spanish with subtitles. Set in an apartment house in Barcelona, and having visited, I can confirm that yes they do look like that. Vaulted stone entries like palace courtyards, massive and lovely central staircases, and “shotgun”-style apartments running the length of the building on either side of the staircase. Pretty cool arrangement. Except for the infected, of course.

Was an unfired round ejected every time the shotgun was racked? That would make me laugh.

Actually, no, although I thought so at first. He was repeatedly checking that the chamber was loaded, and the boss said something along the lines of “how many times are you going to check that?”

Saw “Quarantine” the American version of this just recently. Not a bad little horror movie.

The original Spanish film kicked the remake’s ass
