Yeah, I don’t understand Japanese. I don’t care. I’ll watch all of this, even without subtitles. It can’t be released in the US fast enough for me.

Way back – 70’s maybe? – there was an early anime series that featured WWII’s battleship Yamato after conversion to a spaceship.
This looks like it might be the live-action version.
Between Kick-Ass, A-Team and this, 2010 looks like an escapist’s wet dream.
You are correct sir! The anime was “Space Battleship Yamato,” shown in the ‘states as “Star Blazers.” I couldn’t get enough of it as a kid.
Space battleships and motorcycle jackets! I dig the guy on the planet in the opening, with the goggles and funky respirator.
He’s likely at the site where the Yamato sunk, which is exposed (in the series) as the seas evaporate under alien assault.
Oh! My! Fucking! God! Live action Star Blazers!
I weep with joy.
This… is the best thing.
Ever.
Well, it’s close, anyway.
I remember the first real argument I ever saw between kids. I was about four – so this is ca. 1980. A preschool classroom. Rain pouring outside, so you know that this took place in the PNW.
Kid – “NO! The song goes, “OUR STAR BLAZERS!!!”
This is epic!
