It’s the front end of a jet for display at the USS Hornet floating museum in Alameda. I’ve never visited it but will have to rectify that soon. The view of San Francisco from the deck is spectacular. The NRA recently held a fundraising dinner on the Hornet; I was sorry I couldn’t make it.

Never been to the Hornet, but have been on her sisters Yorktown and Lexington. Good stuff.
That actually looks like the weapons system trainer for the F-8. It only consisted of a modified cockpit. It appears that the back consists of the large panel that held all the connectors that went to the rest of the system.
