Over the long, windy weekend I finished reading Boston’s Gun Bible by Boston T. Party. After I finished it during all the spare time I had Thursday night, I started re-reading it with highlighter in-hand. The book has many quotes from people other than the author, and I’ll be using some of them, along with his quotes in this series for the next few weeks.
I do recommend you buy and read this book, cover to cover, even the sections you don’t think apply to you personally, which is why I included a link above. While he is highly opinionated, he has a good deal of information collected in this one place. Like everything else in life, just take him with a grain of salt and everything will be fine.
If he quotes a source and I can find a link to it, I will post that as well.
And now, with the first quote:
According to FSU professor Gary Kleck’s fine book “Point Blank: Guns and Violence in America“, defenders actually fired their guns in fewer tham one out of four cases. Moreover, resistance with a gun was the best tactic to avoid injuries. Below are the percentages of those defnders who were injured.
12.1% – Resisted with a gun
27.3% – Did not resist in any way
29.5% – Resisted with a knife
52.1% – Resisted with bare hands
Those who resisted with a gun were injured less than half of the time of those who offered no resistance! So, if you like to survuve these perilous times, you should learn to fight with a handgun.
