Saturday Rangeday

Ahh, the weekend is finally here. With the paycheck already spent and the Analog Wife making plans for my Sunday, I am taking today to work out the week’s frustrations at the range.

I’ve got a new 22-250 and my recently re-scoped 10/22 to finally sight in and an e-Postal Match to shoot. I can’t think of a better way to spend six to eight hours in the daylight.

Speaking of Postal Matches, I have finally scraped the results of the August rifle match together. With my email taking a giant dump the week after I released the task, it has been difficult to get them together, but I think I did it and they will be presented Monday.

If you have some spare time, get to the range this weekend. If you learned nothing from the human atrocities that happened along the gulf coast following the devastation of the hurricane, you should have learned that your shooting skills could be called upon at any time. You need to be accurate and you need to effective.

And me sitting here with two rifles that don’t have zeroes is an abomination.

So now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to the range.

Take care yourselves.

The local shotgun range has been promising to re-open their rifle and pistol sections every month since January. That is, every month they move the date up another month. They finally announced they will be opening them TODAY. I’m not gonna get my hopes up, but if they do actually open I will have a rifle/pistol range five minutes from both work and home — Christmas in September! — and will start taking colleagues for quickie range sessions during our lunch hours. Expect to see lots more postal match entries once that starts up.
