Pumpkin Shoot AAR

First off, all I have to say is, you should have been there.

A small crate of pumpkins and four vehicles worth of firearms, are you kidding me? It was the ‘Must Attend Event of the Year’ (or at least the month)!

It all started so innocently two years ago when I got together with Sondra K, Raging Dave, Mollbot and a few co-workers to go out into the woods and absolutely splaughter as many pumpkins as my truck would hold during for a two day event (think three of the 6x6x6 crates that sit in front of the grocery store).

blastoramalogo11th.jpg

And that kicked off the Blogger Blastorama series of events.

Well, the place we shot the last time has been gated up so that it is no longer accessible and I decided to get together with Mr. Completely to take over the CWSA range and stop the 2005 invasion of the pumpkin horde army. Joining us was KeeWee, Mr. JimP, a frequent pin shooter with Mr. C and KeeWee, and the conspicuously absent as of late, Mollbot.

Now, the only real difficulty with going shooting with a group of good folks is that there is so much shooting going on that you forget to take many pictures. I’ve got a few, Mr. Completely has a few and KeeWee has a few. You should stop by all three places to get a good view of the event.

The following images are quite graphic.

If you have difficulty viewing images of pumpkins that have been shot full of holes and pumpkin guts spewed across the landscape, do not click the link below.

Putting the brakes on

For me anyway.

My vacation from work started on Friday, and today marks my vacation from blogging.

I’ve got a few things that I want to do this week, none of it really groundbreaking, but the wife is requiring my time and I need to just back away for a few days.

I’ve rounded up a couple good folks to stop on by and take hold of the control board of the RNS Basestation. David whom I intro’d to you a couple weeks ago and you’ve heard from already, and the always charming Barb from Righty in a Lefty State.

If you haven’t stopped by her place (and you should) then you’ll get to know her this week as she swings through RNS to lend a hand.

As well as his own posts, David will be handling the Quotes of the Day from a few that I’ll be sending him to choose from.

I’ll be back next Monday, full of piss and vinegar and ready to rock. I’ll also have a surprise for you all that I’ll be working on this week.

But anyway, keep stopping by to see what David and Barb want to tell you and feel free to let them know what you think, your comments will be sent to them. I will have the PC on a few times while I’m gone, but I doubt I’ll be on the web much. I’ll mostly be transcribing more Quotes of the Day and then next weekend, writing my posts for Monday.

So have a good week out there, folks. Stay safe and we’ll see you soon enough.

And I’m out!

Peace, yo!

RNS Quote of the Day – Halloween Special

If the personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution inhibit the government’s ability to govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees.

President Bill Clinton, August 12, 1993

Scary, huh?

Happy All-Hallows-Eve

Seeing as how the good Dr. Thai got a little snippy when he called back to reply to my message yesterday, I found a connection so that I can tell you all what I’m up to.

I’m in Japan, as usual, for Halloween.

Why, you may ask; because I’ve been coming here for holidays such as Halloween for well over a decade. OK, that really isn’t an answer. The real answer is that the Japanese do everything at 11 and Halloween they do at around 13. If you’ve never been, you really should.

The costume balls start on October 1st and continue right on through the first week of November. I’ve been to fourteen parties just since arriving on Wednesday and have seen many costumes that would put any American party to shame.

Kita has just been having a blast, showing her costume off, but as much as I try, my costume just doesn’t hide my identity very well and I get asked to grade a goodly number of posteriors.

I guess I shouldn’t have recycled my “Officer Buns of the Booty Patrol again for the fifth year.

Let the good times roll

Ahhh, my vacation has begun. OK, so it is really only a week off that took two weeks to prepare for, but any time not spent at work is good time, right?

Let’s see, today is Pumpkin Shoot Prep and shopping with the Analog Wife. Tomorrow is the Pumpkin Shoot.

After that, not a whole lot is planned, just the way I like it.

As an exercise in public opinion, I would like to ask everyone their opinions on single stage reloading presses. As I made mention of a week or so ago, I have gotten he green light to set up a reloading bench and I’ll be out looking this week.

I’m leaning towards the Rockchucker but Lee’s prices are hard to ignore.

I’ll be reloading precision rifle ammo in two calibers and will expand to three calibers in a year or so, so quantity will take a back seat to accuracy per shot.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

The Royal Treatment

Hello everyone, this is Dr. Lucious Thai reporting to from the Occidental Tush Institute.

The Professor is off partying in far away lands and can’t get to a computer right now, at least according to the message on my voicemail.

Unfortunately for you, I don’t have a whole lot of time either.

By the time you read this, I should be waking up with a princess, having attended the OTI costume ball with her.

Now you go to your party with your princess, mine looks good enough to eat.

A General Nuisance

Is what the Mayor of Berkeley has declared second-hand smoke within his cities limits.

Smokers in Berkeley could find themselves increasingly restricted if the City Council decides to send several policies limiting smoking zones and advertising to the Community Health Commission and city attorney for further review.

The proposed changes to the city’s current smoking regulations, which were authored by Mayor Tom Bates, and would declare secondhand smoke a general nuisance in Berkeley, forbid bars from dedicating nights to tobacco industry promotions and prohibit smoking in cars with small children.

First it was a helath risk to the smoker, so they had it banned in government workplaces. Then, employers decided it was a risk to their health care costs, so they banned it in workplaces.

Not too long thereafter, the anti-smokingistas decided that waiters and waitresses were a special class and had it banned in bars and bowling alleys (they forgot that the fry cooks breath in more toxic fumes in an hour that a barmaid breathes in a 10 hour shift in the smoking section). Not ones to let consumers think for themselves, they decided that restaurants were going to have to ban smoking as well. The technology in 2005 wasn’t smart enough to be able to suck the dirty air out of the room, filter it and then send back into the room cleaned of toxins and odor.

Now the city of Berzerkley has decided that your car is their domain. I’ve seen anti-smoking advocates try the cellphone excuse and call it a ‘distraction to driving’ to try to get it banned, but that didn’t work too well. So now they pull out the old standard “It’s for the Chiiildren! wail and the City Council of that insane burg is falling for it.

How much longer before they make it so that you can’t smoke in your house if you have small children or even just pets? Forget that, how long until you can’t cook, clean with bleach or ammoinia or even fart because that city is pretty sure that you’ll hurt your lungs doing it?

And the lemmings of Berzekley are welcoming this regulation with open arms,

Oh Nanny, please tell me how to live my life!

But mention the Patriot Act, and they go off about BusHitler McHaliburton conspiracies until the sun goes down (and then comes back up again).

As if we didn’t already know

About the hypocrisy of the Hollywood left, there have been a couple items that have surfaced in the past couple days to remind us.

First up, this piece from the NYPost

Pistol-packing Joe Mantegna is blasting a chink in the politically correct armor of some Hollywood heavyweights — he says they love to own and shoot guns.

The “Joan of Arcadia” star says that such left-leaning showbiz types as Steven Spielberg, Leonardo DiCaprio and playwright David Mamet are all avid shooters.

“Lots of guys in Hollywood love to shoot,” Mantegna, a longtime gun sportsman, tells Fade In magazine. “But they ain’t gonna talk to you.”

Sure, we all knew that, but here is the money quote,

Even gung-ho action director Richard Donner (“Lethal Weapon”), who has a concealed weapon permit, was reluctant to talk. “I am anything but a gun enthusiast,” he said in a terse statement. “The only reason I would ever own a gun is for the protection of my home, my environment or my family under the circumstances in which I am forced to live.”

Aww, how nice! He wants his guns to protect his ‘important’ self and family, but us ‘po folks will just have to rely on the police after he gives money to anti-gun groups and pols.

Found at Right Thinking from the Left Coast.

And just in case you haven’t seen it yet, there is a “Name the Liberal quiz over at Right Wing News that comes from items discussed in the Peter Schweizer book, ‘From Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles In Liberal Hypocrisy’
One of the questions asked,

Who says the rich need to pay their fair share and favors the estate tax, but hides his own assets in numerous trusts, including one in the faraway Pacific island of Fiji?

a. George Soros
b. John Edwards
c. Ted Kennedy

Answer: C. Ted Kennedy. The Kennedys have transferred more than half a billion in money from generation to generation but according to their own records paid only $34,000 in estate taxes. Their largest asset, the Merchandise Mart real estate company, was in a trust domiciled in Fiji.

Gotta love those Kennedy’s.

(OK, no you don’t. Just don’t go breaking anything, alright?)
