Unapologetically Uncivilized

The Analog Wife took her second cruise around in Grimm yesterday. She said that she was searching for the perfect phrase to describe him, but couldn’t put her finger on it after the first trip. She found it yesterday.

“He’s uncivilized and doesn’t care who knows”

I think she nailed it.

Whether it is the deep and resounding ‘badup-dup-dup-dup-dup’ of the exhaust note or that he can drive over just about any parking lot median or the look of fright on the face of that girl in the Honda Accord waiting for her light in the northbound left hand turn lane when we crossed in front of her from the westbound left hand turn lane, the damn vehicle is obnoxious and could care less what anyone thinks.

My only regret is not driving him though Seattle’s ultra-left-wing Capitol Hill and Freemont neighborhoods on Earth Day.

I’ll be back

Most likely, this afternoon. I took almost all of yesterday off from the blogosphere and have only a couple things to post other than the Brendolina update below.

But right now, the Analog Wife is cracking the whip to get me to wire up a set of garden lights for her.

Electricity and I don’t get along so well. Let’s all just hope that I don’t blow up the house.

See you in a few. Have a good day all.

Not So Slight Return

Brendolina is back with a whole new flood of vitirol against you know who.

After enduring another of her conspiracy laden emails, stemming from Monday’s post, I warned her that

BTW, any further emails to me will be, from this point on, available for my use at my site

I figured that since she probably wouldn’t want anyone and everyone to see her acting as stupid as she does privately, and letting her know that any correspondence I received from her would be considered by me as agreed upon permittible for posting here, she would shut the hell up and leave me alone.

I was wrong.

She waited a day to run it through her thought synapses, if she does actually have thought synapses, and then fired off yet another email that repeated the same theme as her comment over last weekend.

(1)  You don’t have the courage to register your little hate blog under your
own name, hiding behind the name of another man.

(2) You provided false information to your ISP when you renewed your
registration.

(3) You know that both your ISP and InterNIC has incorrect information.

(4)  You are knowingly chosen to continue in this fraud by refusing to
correct (1)-(3).

She has gotten it down four points from the previous eight. I’m thinking this must be the Cliff Notes version. She goes on to threaten our good man RD with ‘Defaming her’ by his suggesting that I file stalker charges against her.

You might ask your 25-year-old police officer if threatening to file
criminal charges against someone is defamatory.  Assuming that he exists,
you will find that it is.  Now, I’m not you (thank the Good Lord), but if I
were, I would carefully consider your threat to post any information about
me in any public forum.

Of course, she doesn’t consider threatening to report me to the internet police, publically, on my own website, as ‘Defamitory’. Or maybe she forgot about that? I’m also certain that she does not have even middle school level reading comprehension skills. Otherwise, she would have ascertained that our good man RD is a 25yr VETERAN police officer, not a “25-year-old police officer”.

But hey, she probably is a product of the Seattle Public School system.

Her next paragraph is an attempt to frighten me into not publishing this email.

You might also carefully consider the copyright violation that will occur if
you publish or otherwise use any of my writing without my express written
permission.  You have not received it.

Unfortunately for her, when I warned her that I would publish her this email if she ever sent it, her reply was, in effect, an agreement from her that it was alright to do so. She knew that it would be published before she even started typing.

And yet she did so.

After that bit, it was just random insults which didn’t even have the well though out analogical processes that a Klueless Kos Kid has. Which is strange, since you’d figure that because she is using one of the Kos Kids’ favorite tactics, she’d also have read about how to make an insulting analogy.

And on it goes. My reply to her is below the fold. Yes, it is a bit long winded, but I wanted to make sure I had everything in there. Please make a special note of the last paragraph. It was bolded in the email as well, to make sure that she saw it.

I found something at Captain’s Quarters this morning (I took most of yesterday off from the internet) that I’m pretty sure Brendolina has never read, and will much less will ever sign, The Online Integrity Statement of Principles, which came out just this Tuesday. How timely.

We’ll just post the first statement.

#1. Private persons are entitled to respect for their privacy regardless of their activities online. This includes respect for the non-public nature of their personal contact information, the inviolability of their homes, and the safety of their families. No information which might lead others to invade these spaces should be posted. The separateness of private persons’ professional lives should also be respected as much as is reasonable.

But then again, I’ve never said Brendolina was reasonable. She is, as all saw by her comments over last weekend, a leftist who believes that if her ideas are challenged, she needs to threaten said challenger until that person lets her win an argument.

Blogger Blastorama

For those who missed it, ast week I announced a meet, greet and shoot scheduled for this Saturday in the city of Everett.

We’ll be meeting at 10AM at Sam’s Indoor Range 11714 Airport Rd, Everett (just west of Hwy 99 on Airport Rd.)

Prior to that, we’ll be gathering for some pre-shootin’ eatin’ at the IHOP 10301 Evergreen Way, Everett (only 1.2 miles north of Sams on the same road only the name has been changed to confuse you)

As I had mentioned previously, anyone and everyone is welcome to join us; novice or expert, with first-timers being especially welcome.

You do not have to meet us at the IHOP. If you’re not an early riser, just head on down to Sam’s and let them know you’re looking for a group of bloggers. They’ll point you in the right direction.

However, if you are a novice/first-timer, though it may scare some of the IHOP partons, it is much easier to explain the safety rules for firearms when you aren’t surrounded by the loud noises they make.

So come on down and join us, won’t you

Because We Can

Sent to me by a coworker, I found it quite funny and thought you might as well.

A big earthquake, with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale hit Mexico.

Two millions Mexican were killed and over a million are injured. The country is ruined and the government doesn’t know when to start rebuilding there is so much chaos.

Shocked by this, the world reaches out to help.

Canada send Canadian Mounties to help the Mexican Army control riots and unrest,

Saudi Arabia is sending oil,

Other latin american countries are send much needed supplies of food, water and medicine, as is the European community.

The United States, not to be outdone, is sending twice the food that latin america and Europe combined are, three times as much water, and four times as much medicine.

And because we are the greatest nation in the world, able to do things no other country on the planet can do, the US is also sending two million replacement Mexicans.

Have a good day, all.

I’m off to Nebraska…

…and the Specialty Pistols Don Bower Long-Range Handgun clinic. Won’t make up for missing Boomershoot, but still should be lots of fun.

In the meantime, here’s some gun pr0n. This beauty was crafted by Don Shearer for a member of the Specialty Pistols group. Click for bigger. (Psst. It’s a rifle specialty pistol with a stock attached.)

The Taco Bell Was Still Open

I’m reading about how yesterday’s marches/protests/demonstrations had little to no effect on much of anything.

Here in Seattle, the numbers were in the 25K range, although I’m sure the organizers doubled that figure. What I saw in the arial shots from the news copters was a half mile line of people who, as they were coming down 4th Ave in Seattle, all could have extended their arms and done the whirling dirvish.

What I saw in the ground shots was pure opera. I could almost hear the camera directors remarks to the operators as they switched from camera to camera:

Director: “Camera two, pan left and up. Switch to camera four. Camera four pan up and right. Camera three can you please focus in on that group with the American flags? Camera three, I asked for American flags. Camera three?”

Camera Three: “What American flags?”

D: “Over to your right, Camera Three”

C3: “Those are counter-protestors”

Yes, there were SOME people in the march carrying the Stars and Stripes, but I saw many, many flags from Mexico and Brazil and every Central American country in between, as well as a couple from Europe. But you had to look for American flags by finding a group of them. There were very few individuals with them around.

It seemed almost, Organized?

About the only thing disrupted by the rally/march here in Seattle was traffic.

The organizers waited to start the march until around 1530PST or so, therefore putting them in downtown, blocking the on-ramps to the freeway, for the beginning of rush hour. A small number of bus routes were also cancelled/re-rerouted to try and avoid the march itself.

When the ‘on-the-ground’ news reporters were waiting for the march to reach them, they’d interview ‘The Man On The Street’ and ask their opinions. Mostly what they got was people angry that they didn’t know how they were going to get home because their bus routes were cancelled/re-routed, but eventually they found their sypathetic soul.

Of course, the guy had pre-positioned himself at the Federal Building (the ending point of the march) and put his “Amnesty” sign back up to his shoulder when they were done talking to him.

All I know is that I woke up around 1500 and was hungry. All the talk about illegal immigration (a phrase that none of the personell at the big three stations used, BTW) made me think of making a run for the border.

So off I went to Taco Bell. To say the wife was pleased when she woke up and found fresh tacos that she didn’t have to cook, would be a mild understatement.

BTW, not a Mexican to be seen in the place.

Uh-huh

Yep.

I wish I had written that.

These were the three things that exited my mouth while reading this post from Ace

Liberals Begin Creating Shrines To Stephen Colbert

Bill Keller, editor in chief of the NYT, said he got a lot of letters from people charging the NYT with being conservative or rightwing. But at least he had the smarts and honesty to admit what that sort of letter-writing campaign was: an attempt at ideological “Mau-Mauing” by leftists who know damn well the NYT is liberal as the day is long but want it to be more liberal, or at least make no concessions whatsoever to fairness to Republicans.

The whole Kabuki theater aspect of this annoys the hell out of me. It’s a dumb-show, a pantomime played out by morons who actually think they’re fooling someone. Maybe they think of us as retarded children, delighted by the Punch and Judy act.

So, Colbert and Stewart and Alterman and the Midget Comedian Bill Maher and the rest of the leftist hacks pretend to believe the media is too rightwing, and the media pretends to believe their criticism that they’re too rightwing, and therefore decides it’s about time they stopped being so damn rightwing and started being tough on Bush, the GOP, conservatives, and religious Christians and Jews.

Take a minute and read that whole thing. If you start nodding your head about halfway down, don’t worry, it’s normal.

Trust the gov’t with your residence address? I don’t.

Instead, I’ve been using private mailboxes for the last twenty years or so, since the end of high school (geez, it’s been that long?).

There’s nothing secretive about this, just go to any Postal Annex or UPS Store/Mailboxes Etc. and sign up for what’s essentially a PO box. (A private mailbox comes at a higher price than a PO Box, but you also don’t have to deal with the Post Office, either.) Fill out your change of address form with the private mailbox address, and voila! All sorts of nice things happen.

For example, one nice thing about a private mailbox is that although the Post Office requires you to place “PMB” (“Private Mailbox,” get it?) in front of your box number, in practice it can be a “suite” street address:

Your Name

1234 Main Street, Suite D-123

Anytown, USA, Eeeevil Zip Code

With a suite address, you can receive shipments from overnight services that won’t deliver to a P.O. box. And no, you’re not breaking any regulation: you can’t control whether or not your bank, utilities, creditors, friends, relatives all forget to put the pesky “PMB” in your address, right?  No skin off your nose: it’ll get delivered anyway whether PMB is in the address or not.

Another nice thing about a PMB is that there’s always somebody there to sign for shipments. Nothing gets left on your porch to be stolen by the neighbors.

But the best part about a private mailbox, as far as I’m concerned, is the privacy it gives you. My bank, utilities, creditors, the tax man, etc. all do not know my residence address, so therefore they can’t sell or give it to anybody else. Not only do I get no junk mail at my house anymore, but also my wife and I have the PMB on our California drivers’ licenses, instead of our home address. Yes, it’s legal: DMV has my residence address, but I can specify that my mailing address be on the license itself.

Sure helps keep those stalkers away.

Of course, since I own my home, a stalker could always pay a service to look up the property records, or just follow me home from work. But I’m betting most of them aren’t that persistent.
