Finally

A protest march I wouldn’t mind getting behind.

Organisers of a protest march against Sheikh Taj El Din Al Hilali’s comments on women and rape say they’re confident their demonstration won’t be hijacked by white supremacists.

‘The Great Australian Bikini March’ is planned for December the 9th, with organisers encouraging participants to put on “beachwear” and march to a Melbourne mosque.

But police are warning that the protest may be infiltrated by extremists.

Yeah, but they’ll be half naked extremists. It is pretty hard to hide a bomb vest when wearing swimwear.

Is that a stick of dynamite in your Speedo, or are you just happy to see me?

The Australian Herald Sun confirms what we all knew. The local socialist sects are supporting, not the women’s rights groups, but the Mosque.

Organisers of the “Great Australian Bikini March” had planned to march against the Michael St mosque last Saturday, anniversary of the Cronulla riots in NSW.

Though the bikini march has been postponed until Australia Day next year, some supporters say they will still hold the rally on Saturday.

The march has been promoted on white supremacist websites.

In response, the Islamic Information and Support Centre and the Socialist Party Australia are organising a barbecue and mosque open day for Saturday at the same time.

No Pork, Dhimmi!

We can only hope that the AU based supporters of Islamic Facism claw their eyes out when these down-under ladies show them what they’re made of.

It would be a shame if they broke their arms

Patting themselves on the back.

I’ve spoken of what happened in Srebrenica under Clinton/Annan regimes here before. If you don’t know about it, go here and read.

The Dutch UN Peacekeepers who stood by while 8000 Bosnians were massacred are going to get a medal for refusing to act while the Serbians killed children.

Survivors of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre have criticised the Dutch government for giving an insignia to UN peacekeepers who served in the city.

They said honouring Dutch troops who were charged with protecting the Muslim Bosnian enclave was “scandalous”.

Nearly 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed by Serb forces who overran Srebrenica in July 1995.

The Dutch government said the troops deserved recognition for their behaviour in difficult circumstances.

Presenting the insignia to some 800 soldiers from the Dutch battalion (Dutchbat) at a military barrack in Assen, Dutch Defence Minister Henk Kamp said they had been unjustly seen in an unfavourable light.

He said they were sent to Srebrenica on a mission impossible – without enough weaponry – and a limited mandate.

I think that Cap’n Ed said it best

Any soldier presented with this should refuse to wear it. It should be seen as the Scarlet Letter of insignias, given the nature of the collapse of the Srebrenica defense.

And they should make two double-sized representations of these medals and pin one-each to the foreheads of both Clinton and Kofi Annan, because the blood is so deep that if they were pinned to their chests, no one would be able to see them due to the depth of the blood they’re standing in.

A Repectable Offer

While much has been said about the author Orson Scott Card here and around the blogosphere, a different sci-fi writer, John Scalzi, has a very respectable offer for our men and women in uniform.

Last year, I and Tor Books made a special electronic edition of Old Man’s War available for free to the folks serving in Iraq and Afghanistan; here in 2006, we’re doing it with The Ghost Brigades. TGB is a follow-up to OMW but it’s a stand-alone book; you don’t need to have read Old Man’s War to be able to read The Ghost Brigades.

So: If you’re currently serving in Iraq or Afghanistan and would like to receive an electronic edition of The Ghost Brigades to read and (hopefully) enjoy, all you have to do is send an e-mail from your .mil account to [email protected] and ask for it. As soon as I get your request, I’ll send you an .rtf document (about 584kb in size), which you can format as you please for whatever you read things on.

Your cost: not a thing. You’ve earned some recreational reading, I expect.

Pass it around.

And if you’re not serving, youmight try buying or more of Scalzi’s books to show your appreciation.

Sounds like somebody needs to learn about baseball

And getting laid might mellow her out significantly as well

I was appalled at an advertisement I recently saw on the bulletin board in my dorm. . . . The advertisement from Health Services, calling for safe sex, reads, “Whether you’re the catcher or the pitcher, always wear a glove!” with a picture of a smiling woman holding a catcher’s mitt and a man holding a bat next to her. . . .

To consider the act of sex as a subject/object encounter, as this advertisement does, where a woman’s role is to “catch” a man’s “pitches,” is degrading, disgusting, and completely beyond the type of behavior I expect from an institution of higher learning. To pair this type of advertising alongside messages of “always get consent” seems contradictory and dangerous to the lives of women–on campus and elsewhere. This poster is sending a message that sex is defined as an act done to a woman by a man, rather than a collaborative effort of two people. I am afraid that this is just replicating a system of hierarchy where women are expected to accept what they are given, including situations where they may feel pressured by men to have unprotected sex, and I hope that this type of safe sex awareness is torn down from our walls permanently.

DANEgerus points out the first thing that came to mind when I saw her abusing the baseball reference: The catcher is the one calling the pitch

All Your Money Are Belong To Us

When Seattle started along with their hare-brained idea to stretch a Monorail system around town, they tacked on a fee to the cost of automobile license tabs to help pay for it.

Now that the Monorail idea is resting firmly in the round-file, everyone who had paid said fee was supposed to get a refund from the left over funding. While it wouldn’t have been the full about, getting some of my money back from when I lived in Seattle sounded like a fine idea to me.

Well, screw that good time!

Unspent cash collected for Seattle’s abandoned transit monorail project will likely be spent helping fix up the old one.

In a divided vote, board members of the Seattle Monorail Project decided Thursday night not to refund any of the unspent cash to city car owners who paid the monorail car-tab tax one extra time in June.

While voting not do to so, most board members agreed that surplus money could be given to the city to help defray the $4.5 million cost of refurbishing the 44-year-old Seattle Center Monorail. The agency’s chief operating officer, Jonathan Buchter, said that transfer is legal and consistent with the project’s original mission of funding a public monorail system.

And I was goind to buy myself something off the McDonald’s Value Menu with my refund. Now I’ll have to go hungry.

Burn this flag every day

flags.jpg

But not this one ever.

hezb.gif

That is the message that was sent by the Associated Students Group at San Francisco State University last week when they condemned the SF State College Republicans for burning the flags of terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah.

Their reasoning, if you want to call it that, stems from that each of the previously mentioned terrorist organization’s flag incorporate the Arabic symbol for “God” in their designs.

Big fucking whoop. The SF State Repubs should grab up whatever flag or banner represents San Francisco State University and burn the fuck out of it at the next Associated Students Group meeting.

Moral relatavistic bastards.

Dare to be Stupid: 12/06/06

Yesterday the news came out that NYC had banned trans-fats in the cities restaurants.

It was mentioned around the right-wing of the blogosphere as the ever stretching arm of the nanny state having to take care of it’s subjects because they’re too stupid to figure out what is bad for them on their own.

Which is utterly and completely true. That is exactly what the move in NYC was.

This story even has quotes from NYC residents who agree that their city government was doing the right thing for them.

So it is of no surprise who I found that agrees with both the city and the residents who want to be taken care of, John Avarosis of AmericaBlog

Trans fats really do pop up everywhere, and unnecessarily so. Just look at your food labels, and look for “partially hydrogenated vegetable oil.” Just see how many foods it’s really in. I’m all for banning the bugger, it’s everywhere and it is extremely difficult to avoid.

I’d feel sorry for the guy, but he really is just an idiot looking for someone to take care of him.

Ideas the American Left Refuses to Believe about Iraq

Alternet published a list they called: The Ten Fallicies about the Violence in Iraq

It is, to my eyes, ten true things that the American left knows to be true, but cannot bring themselves to admit. I do, however, like that the Crooks and Liars blog tries to change the name of the list to blame these items on the media. Because the left cannot believe the media has a liberal bias, otherwise they’re heads will implode as their world crashes around them.

But onto the list:

1. The U.S. is a buffer against more violence.

This is undeniably true. While the Iraqis themselves don’t really like us being there all that much, if we were to leave, the current sectarian violence would multiply enormously. This point will connect with #8 as well.

2. The killers do it to influence U.S. politics.

The media releases tell this tale themselves. With our enemies cheering on the change in the Congress and saying that they knew it would happen because they are turning America against the eevviill Bush.

Seattle has had a Preview

I did a little research on the gun-bigot sponsors of the legislation mentioned in this post from yesterday.

Listed at the top of SB 5475 are Senators Kline and Kohl-Welles, also known as Senator Adam Kline from the 37th Legislative District and Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles from the 36th Legislative District.

Both of these districts are in Seattle, with Sen. Kline repping the Madrona, Rainier Beach and Rainier Valley neighborhoods, while Sen. Kohl-Welles reps for the Blue Ridge, Ballard, Magnolia and Queen Anne neighborhoods.

Sen. Kline is a former personal injury and civil rights lawyer who comes highly recommended by several civil rights activist groups, though notably absent are groups who focus on the civil right that makes all the others possible.

Senator Kohl Welles, on the other hand, seems to be directly in the pocket of Washington professional gun bigot group Ceasefire Washington. Over the past few years, she has focused her attention on any and every idea that the anti-gun lobbyists can think of; from the “Gun Show Loophole” to “Safe Storage” laws to creating a “Firearms Ballistic Database” and requests that a “National Database for Ammunition Identification” be created. She has even tried to go directly against the Washington State Supreme Court after they overwhelmingly approved a citizen’s right to carry a firearm into the State Capital Building.

Part of this, I believe, stems from the area she reps for. Each of the seperate neighborhoods she represents have reputations for low crime, with most folks describing them as “over-policed”. Just about any crime in the Magnolia higher than a car prowl is so rare as to be newsworthy. The State Supreme Court Justice who left a party and tried to DUI it a few blocks to her house was in Magnolia.

Senator Kline’s area, with the exception of Madrona, are Seattle’s high crime neighborhoods. I used to live right on the western edge of his district and was calling SPD every two to three weeks to have them come get the stripped stolen vehicle off the street in front of my house. It is also the center of most of the city’s gang activity.

I’m sure that Kline thinks he is doing his constituents some good with sponsoring this, but it just goes to show how ignorant and bigoted he is.

I mention all of this because at the beginning of this year, Seattle’s mandatory recycling program started. This December 31st is the last day of “warnings” for folks who don’t comply with the “less than 10% of recyclable materials in the trash” rule. As of Jan 01, 2007, there will be fines issued to homeowners and businesses who do not meet with the city inspector’s (yes, they have “trash inspectors” now) approval.

There is no word as to what they will do if you do not pay your trashy recycle fines, but it would not surprise to hear that someone was going to jail for not paying them. Hell, as a former resident of the city, it would not surprise me to hear about someone having their home seized for not paying them.

While Kline and Kohl-Welles had nothing to do with the madatory recycling program, their insistence upon writing and/or backing every single anti-gun provision that floats down the sewer of the State Legislature mirrors the attitude shows towards the subjects of Seattle by their government.

If they think of it, it must be for your own good.

I do not use those words lightly. They are verbatim of the advertizing campaign. You can find the previous posts where I talk about this here. And if you like the stories of my run-ins with the local eco-socialists, try this one out.

Yea or Nay?

There is a bill moving through Congress that would give Washington DC a seat in the House.

Your arguments for or against, please.

I’ll chime in later. Right now, I don’t know enough to oppose or support it, though I would think it would negate the reason DC is called a “Dicstrict” and not a “State”.

Educate me.

On a side note; due to an increase in population, Utah is about to get another seat in the House as well.
