The Latest Bitch and Moan

From the local leftists now that this whole Imus this is nearly over is that the FBI supposedly doesn’t have enough agents to investigate white collar crimes and interstate monetary scams because too many agents went over to work in the counter-terrorism side of things.

Thousands of white-collar criminals across the country are no longer being prosecuted in federal court — and, in many cases, not at all — leaving a trail of frustrated victims and potentially billions of dollars in fraud and theft losses.

It is the untold story of the Bush administration’s massive restructuring of the FBI after the terrorism attacks of 9/11.

Five-and-a-half years later, the White House and the Justice Department have failed to replace at least 2,400 agents transferred to counterterrorism squads, leaving far fewer agents on the trail of identity thieves, con artists, hatemongers and other criminals.

If you don’t want to read the whole thing, let me just fill you in. 2400 agents left the duties previously assigned to the FBI, and Bush has replaced around 1575 of them. The other 825 unreplaced agents are supposedly making things dangerous in the world of white collar crime.

Nevermind that most white collar crimes (and hate crimes, etc) are local. Nevermind that most locales are picking up the slack.

The Seattle PI’s anti-terror investigation squad hit piece doesn’t grab those facts and completely forgets to mention if the numbers of those crimes are going up or going down. Not that it matters; if they were going down before, they’re gonna go up now.

And you’ll notice that these reporters had nothing to say when Bush didn’t deliver on the promise of extra immigration agents. Nor will you hear a peep about how police agencies in the Seattle Metro area are understaffed and over-worked.

But that may be because the Seattle/King County area is owned by Democrats. Not just run, PWNED.

I just don’t know how the leftists can think that they can be taken seriously when they single out instances like this, but when examples of Democrat failures to ensure that they are fulfilling a Constitutional Mandate, policing, prosecuting and stoage of criminals, they say nothing.

And to be completely honest. If the FBI never hired another agent to wire tap a phone with only one party’s permission or go ninja and no-knock a private citizen’s residence with a blank warrant, I wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep over it.

Of the next Revolution?

Oliver Willis (Occupation: Toole) writes that his own state of Maryland has passed a National Popular Vote bill, which puts them on the list of states that wishes they could just dole out their Electoral Votes to the winner of the popular vote.

My first question is: Why do “progressives” hate the Constitution so much? (answer: because it limits their power)

My next question is this: Since there will be, as we all know, a comparison right after the polls close in November 2008 between who won using our time tested Electoral College and the Popular Vote system, but only if a Republican wins the office, will there be “blowback” from the losers of the EC/winners of the PV System?

Or, if everyone in the country drops acid before going to the polls and votes for a Constitutional Amendment that makes the PV system our new way of electing a Chief Executive, will “Red America” have something unkind to say about it?

What an America run completly by Democrats would look like, you need look no further than the District of Columbia.

But you already knew this.

However, I have updated examples:

Example 1: The DC Mayor’s appeal of the overturning of his city’s draconian anti-civil rights law

Mayor Adrian Fenty’s administration wants D.C.’s gun ban upheld despite a federal appeals court overturning the ban last month.

 

A statement from Fenty’s office said that on Monday, they will appeal the decision. They plan to petition for the case to be reheard at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Fenty and many other groups have publicly shown their support for the gun ban in recent weeks.

Example 2: Their complete lack of a grasp on the realities facing their district (not a state)

Amid all the fuss last week over the city budget and Mayor Adrian Fenty’s plan to take over the schools, one new piece of legislation was overlooked.

D.C. Council members Marion Barry, Kwame Brown and Harry Thomas Jr. introduced legislation to create the Commission on Fashion Arts and Events.

According to a release from two women who are pushing the initiative — fashion lawyer Mariessa Terrell White and fashion show consultant Christine Brooks Cropper — the new office would “not only recognize the achievements of D.C.’s burgeoning fashion community, but will also be responsible for carving out a section of the city’s landscape for the singular purpose of showcasing international designers and specialty retailers inside the Beltway … akin to Chicago’s Magnificent Mile or Los Angeles’ Rodeo Drive.”

Europe: Majority supports strike on Iran

Over half of Europeans would support a preemptive military strike to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, a poll released last week by a London think-tank reports.

A survey commissioned by the pro-business think tank, Open Europe, found that a majority of those surveyed in 18 EU member states including France and Britain, backed military action as an option in dealing with the threat of Iranian nuclear proliferation, while majorities in 9 nations including Germany and Spain were opposed.

This should be a good thing. Unfortuantely, as I said in the title of this post, they are children.

However, the April 4 survey of more than 17,000 Europeans in March conducted by the French polling firm TNS-Sofres found little support for increasing military expenditures to counter or contain the threat.

However, few voters in the EU would be prepared to see cuts in domestic spending to finance higher defense outlays to counter the threat. Only 37 percent of British voters and 23 percent of all EU voters agreed with the statement that, “Our country should spend more on defense and less on other things.”

So, in other words, these children would not want to give up their pretty toys to save their own necks.

Does anyone wonder who they have in mind to start, endure and complete the threat?

If you are one who is wondering, go find a mirror and look into it.

Gun Porn!

Yay!

I finally got my Hensoldt Fero Z24 scope mounted up to the Hun Bastard.

Ain’t it purty! Wait, the Hun Bastard will not stand for being called “purty”. Somebody get me a better word, stat!

This will be rifle number two of three I plan to work with at the Boomershoot firing line. I’m also bringing a couple other things to Boomer-Hunt with. Those will be upcoming.

My only regret with taking the Hun Bastard is that I didn’t get around to getting the trigger work done, so I’ll have that to deal with. Though, in truth, I am not above taking advantage of the standard 20rnd mag capacity to complete an area fire drill on a boomer.

This scope is quite impressive, even for just a 4x optic. I’m searching this here interweb for instructions on how to use the markings on the glass to my adavantage. Though, seeing as how this is ex-Kraut Mil equipment, I’m pretty sure they’re set up for people, not 4″ wide boomers.

You can’t really see it because of my crappy photography, but when I bought this I also ordered the “Crosshair Illuminator” attachment. The batteries that came with it were dead, but I’m looking for more.

I’ll get some better pics when I take it out to zero it.

Seriously fellow HK91 clone owners, if you see one of these at a price below $400, snatch it up quick. Yes, I know that I haven’t posted a link to where I got it, but I’m being greedy because I don’t want them all gone before I can get a second one. Ask me nicely in an email and I might cut loose with the info, though.
