From the local leftists now that this whole Imus this is nearly over is that the FBI supposedly doesn’t have enough agents to investigate white collar crimes and interstate monetary scams because too many agents went over to work in the counter-terrorism side of things.
Thousands of white-collar criminals across the country are no longer being prosecuted in federal court — and, in many cases, not at all — leaving a trail of frustrated victims and potentially billions of dollars in fraud and theft losses.
It is the untold story of the Bush administration’s massive restructuring of the FBI after the terrorism attacks of 9/11.
Five-and-a-half years later, the White House and the Justice Department have failed to replace at least 2,400 agents transferred to counterterrorism squads, leaving far fewer agents on the trail of identity thieves, con artists, hatemongers and other criminals.
If you don’t want to read the whole thing, let me just fill you in. 2400 agents left the duties previously assigned to the FBI, and Bush has replaced around 1575 of them. The other 825 unreplaced agents are supposedly making things dangerous in the world of white collar crime.
Nevermind that most white collar crimes (and hate crimes, etc) are local. Nevermind that most locales are picking up the slack.
The Seattle PI’s anti-terror investigation squad hit piece doesn’t grab those facts and completely forgets to mention if the numbers of those crimes are going up or going down. Not that it matters; if they were going down before, they’re gonna go up now.
And you’ll notice that these reporters had nothing to say when Bush didn’t deliver on the promise of extra immigration agents. Nor will you hear a peep about how police agencies in the Seattle Metro area are understaffed and over-worked.
But that may be because the Seattle/King County area is owned by Democrats. Not just run, PWNED.
I just don’t know how the leftists can think that they can be taken seriously when they single out instances like this, but when examples of Democrat failures to ensure that they are fulfilling a Constitutional Mandate, policing, prosecuting and stoage of criminals, they say nothing.
And to be completely honest. If the FBI never hired another agent to wire tap a phone with only one party’s permission or go ninja and no-knock a private citizen’s residence with a blank warrant, I wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep over it.
Hell, if they don’t have enough Feds, just grab some of them from BATFE; those people aren’t doing anything useful, anyway.
Liberals are more concerned about white collar crime than terrorism because white collar crime because to them it symbolizes the evils of capitalism, whereas the liberals see the terrorists just as another group of freedom fighters oppressed by capitalists.
In their weird little worlds, virtually all problems find their source in capitalism.
Funny thing I saw in St. Louis this weekend-a booth with a large banner reading Why You Need NICS- sponsered by the FBI with a couple of agents to answer questions. Most people walked right on by to visit the booth with the big 50. What a firearm!!!
