And now, back to the sociopaths

To feed a starving child is to exacerbate the world population problem.

Lamont Cole (as quoted by Elizabeth Whelan in her book Toxic Terror)

Sounds as though this guy might have protested LiveAid and think that Bob Geldof is Public Enemy #1.

That could be one hell of a Fourth of July

But not on this continent.

Israel braces for July war with up to five enemies

Israel is preparing for an imminent war with Iran, Syria and/or their non-state clients.

Israeli military intelligence has projected that a major attack could come from any of five adversaries in the Middle East. Officials said such a strike could spark a war as early as July 2007.

On Sunday, Israeli military intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin told the Cabinet that the Jewish state faces five adversaries in what could result in an imminent confrontation. Yadlin cited Iran, Syria, Hizbullah, Hamas and Al Qaida.

“Each of these adversaries is capable of sparking a war in the summer,” Yadlin was quoted as saying.

As always, I will hope for the best but expect the worst. From both the above named countries and terrorist organizations, and the media (whom I’m sure will play this off in their usual fashion as Israel being the agent provocateur).

Does he have a time machine?

The charges which cost Tom DeLay his Majority Leader position are withering on the vine.

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals today refused to reinstate criminal conspiracy charges against former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and two co-defendants.

DeLay, R-Sugar Land, and political consultants Jim Ellis and John Colyandro were accused of conspiring to violate state election laws in the 2002 elections for the Texas House. But lower courts threw out the indictment on grounds that conspiracy to violate the election code was not a crime until 2003,

A majority of the Court of Criminal Appeals agreed.

The only charge left is the money laundering charge, and from what I remember of that, it was a weak one as well, but at least it was on the books when he is accused of committing it.

Ratbastard partisan tool prosecutor, Ronnie Earl, deserves to get Nifonged, just as soon as we figure out what that term will untimately mean. Personally, the rope meets tree option works for me for them both. Hell, we could probably get sponsors.

Round Two

As you probably already know, the move to keep the Immigration Surrender Amnesty Bill off the floor of the Senate failed yesterday.

Round two is today. More phone calls needed (contact info here).

We did win one yesterday, though just barely.

Senate Republicans on Tuesday blocked a bill that would have allowed labor organizations to unionize workplaces without secret ballot elections. Democrats were unable to get the 60 votes needed to force consideration of the Employee Free Choice Act, ending labor’s chance to win its top legislative priority from Congress.

The final vote was 51-48.

I started posting about the ineptly titled “Employee Free Choice Act” (furthermore to be known around these parts as the “Forced Unionization Bill”) back in January. Here is the basics of this bill:

If this bill were to pass “Card Check” type votes for union memberships would be national law. There would be no more anonymous voting for a shop to become a union shop. If a union can lie their way to be able to get 50% + 1 employee to sign a card, the business is now a union shop.

A federal moderator would force the business to take what the union is offering. There are strict and quite short times allowed for negotiations between the business and the union in the bill. All the union reps have to do is stand their ground and tell the feds that the business is being uncooperative, and the business gets stepped on by the feds.

If a business so much as holds a meeting asking the non-union supporting employees to not sign a card, they can be federally fined for intimidation. There are no fines allowed for union reps intimidating people to sign the card. They can even intimidate employees in the privacy of the employee’s home, something  businesses have never been allowed to do. Also, any pro-union employee who gets fired before the business goes union, whether it be for insubordination or the failing of a drug test, is allowed to bring the feds in to put the business under a microscope for intimidation. Hell, just making the guy take a drug test, even if he was randomly chosen by an outside testing agency (as is done at my place of employ) can be grounds for filing an anti-union organizing suit which will bring the feds in.

But the worst part of this bill is that is a lie. Even just the title is a lie.

Any bill called “The Employee Free Choice Act” that was honestly and actually pro-free choice for all employees would create a nation-wide right-to-work.

So while you’re calling about the Immigration Surrender Amnesty Bill, be sure to drop a hint that voting for the Forced Unionization Bill will be one that they will also garner your support for any candidate that challenges them.

Here are the numbers again.

RNS Quote of the Day: 06/27/07

Seeing as how he is stepping down from his job today, I thought we might give the eco-socialist sociopaths a break for one day.

I just want to say this. I want to say it gently but I want to say it firmly: There is a tendency for the world to say to America, the big problems of the world are yours, you go and sort them out, and then to worry when America wants to sort them out.

Tony Blair

Like him or not, the man spoke a very real truth there.

Oh So Solly

Capitalism and freedom are contagious. I know, how’d a thunk it?

For Communist Party officials, their worst nightmare is becoming reality. The new middle class often own their homes, and when property values are threatened by some government policy, these middle class Chinese organize and show their displeasure. There have been several recent mass demonstrations by middle class Chinese, usually protesting efforts to put factories, or other property value destroying facilities,  in the middle of newly built middle class communities. Local government officials, who control the local police, find that they cannot just use force to disperse the middle class demonstrators, as they do farmers, or  poor, working class protestors. The middle class crowd is better organized, and have useful connections themselves. The middle class have cell phones and Internet access. The middle class also has access to the upper reaches of the Communist Party, which relies on middle class administrators and technocrats, to make things happen. If the middle class turns on the Communist Party, the communists will lose. The revenge of the bourgeoisies, so to speak.  So far, the Communist Party has a deal with the growing Chinese middle class. The latter can get rich, as long as the communists remain in power. But when that power, now corrupted by all that money, interferes with property values, who prevails? Historically, the protectors of property values prevail.

I can forsee a time in the near future when the left actively and openly protests the US puchase of products, not because of the labor and human rights issues that China has, but because we are giving the burgeoning citizens (currently though, still subjects) there the tools to put the boot to communism.

Maybe after the Olympics the government there will begin cracking down on these folks organizing, but I’m not so sure.

But if this trend continues, history may show that giving Hong Kong back to the ChiComs was the best thing the west could have done?

The Difference

Between folks on the right and those on the left.

The Insta-Puppyblender quotes from the NYT medical section

Predators want to kill you and eat you right there on the veldt. Parasites, by contrast, want to keep you alive, the better to serve as a parasite paradise, a cozy haven where they can grow at their own pace, suckle on your moist, nourishing tissues, multiply their numbers and finally, one way or another, pass those numbers along.

At the end of the quote, he then adds

Kinda like the difference between, say, terrorists and lobbyists.

And that is the difference between the folks on the right, who worry most about the predators. While folks on the left are more worried about parasites.

Very simple, when you come right down to it.

Wha?

I don’t know how, on the same day that the SCOTUS gave McCain-Feingold a swift kick in the nuts, these same learned individuals could do something this stupid.

Student loses ruling over “Bong Hits 4 Jesus”

A divided Supreme Court on Monday curtailed free-speech rights for students, ruling against a teenager who unfurled a banner saying “Bong Hits 4 Jesus” because the message could be interpreted as promoting drug use.

In its first major decision on student free-speech rights in nearly 20 years, the high court’s conservative majority ruled that a high school principal did not violate the student’s rights by confiscating the banner and suspending him.

Well, then High Times magazine had better watch out, because I can guaran-fuckin-tee you that they are absolutely promoting drug use. Granted, they aren’t students. Or if they are, they’re studying “Dude what was I talking about agan?”.

Was the kids tokin’ up? Uhh, no. Was he selling “drug paraphernalia”?. Not at all. He wasn’t even displaying it on his banner.

This is like some jackass school administrator sending a kid home for wearing an AC/DC t-shirt because the twisted admin-tweaker thinks it stands for “Anti Christ/Devil’s Child” or some shit.

For a SCOTUS who can knock ’em out of the park most days, they can also try for a bunt and end up sending the ball into their own crotch.

No habla de Englaise?

Then you are so screwed.

All in U.S. Should Speak English, Say Americans

The vast majority of people in the United States believe everybody who calls themselves an American citizen should speak the national language, according to a poll by Hart/Newhouse released by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News. 89 per cent of respondents support having all immigrants applying for citizenship being required to learn English.

89%? Gee, that is 10% more than the number of people who DO NOT want the current immigration surrender bill to get through either legislative body of the US Government.

Must all be racists.

Which reminds me, Bush is reportedly making a whole lot of phone calls today to try and marshal up some support for the surrender bill.

Here is the contact info for your Senators. I hear that some of them are getting downright testy about having so many of their constituents call them about this bill.

If there is any justice in the world, my elected representatives should be as pissed about the job they’re doing as I am about the job they’re doing.

Give ’em a call.

Another sociopath, comin’ right up

The truth is that Mozart, Pascal, Boolean algebra, Shakespeare, parliamentary government, baroque churches, Newton, the emancipation of women, Kant, Marx, Balanchine ballet et al., don’t redeem what this particular civilization has wrought upon he world. The white race is the cancer of human history. It is the white race and it alone–its ideologies and inventions— which eradicates autonomous civilizations wherever it spreads, which has upset the ecological balance of the planet, which now threatens the very existence of life itself.

Susan Sontag, Partisan Review, Winter 1967, p. 57.
