I guess it is a fact now

America IS a country of racists.

8% of America, that is.

Pastor Jeremiah Wright, who has become part of the national political dialogue in recent days, is viewed favorably by 8% of voters nationwide.

Well within my “10% of any population are assholes” philosphy.

I didn’t say how much later

Pulling Parts Sunday lasted longer than I had envisioned due to one of two things:

1. The back of my truck isn’t as big as I thought, or

2. Galaxie parts are larger than I thought.

Pick one and either way, I had to make two trips (and enlist Buddy the Jeep) to get all the parts home.

On the plus side, I have figured out how Detroit kept all those people working in the middle of the 20th Century (hint: 38 pieces of interior trim).

Total parts retrieved count: 4 doors w/glass, all actuators and handles, and interior panels, the two rear curved windows, rear door glass (door itself was more cancerous than the one we have), both bench seats, mohair dash pad, mohair roof liner, and 38 pieces of interior trim. Total cost: Equivalent to 1000 rounds of 7.62 M80 ball ammo. It’s the wife’s savings, so it never would have been used to purchase ammo, but I did tell her that that is what I’d have used the money for.

I’ll be picking up the custom disc brake conversion, including spindles, rotors, calipers and booster/reservoir, next weekend. If he has time, he’ll also be pulling the heater blower and the air intake sheet metal.

So now the dude’s car looks like this

P3160002.JPG

Beware Ford Windstar owners. This is all the damage you can do in a head on collision at a combined speed of 50mph to a car made of real steel. If you look carefully, you’ll notice that the passenger side turn light lens isn’t even cracked. Yes, I pulled those too.

Sadly, the rest of the front end, including the driver’s side fender, is tweaked in one way or the other, and the front foot of the frame is bent in three different directions. Fixable, though expensively so. Amazingly, there is not even a scratch to either of the passenger side doors.

The built 390 and C4 were pulled and dropped into dude’s 1960 F100, and the Ford 9in axle is going into one of his dueces. During this week he’ll be cutting the rear 3ft of the car off to convert it into a wall mounted couch. And then his wagon of eight years will be scrapped.

And one more 1963 Ford Country Sedan bites the dust. But it’s parts live on to help another one drive into the second decade of the 21st century.

You keep saying that word

But I do not think you know what it means.

The local SDS creeps are claiming “Victory!!1!” in shutting down the Tacoma Mall Recruitment Center over this last weekend.

I fond this odd. From the article I linked yesterday:

But thanks to Bell and dozens of other Vietnam and Iraq war veterans and their supporters — who got there first — the recruiting office stayed open. A recruiter said he’d had two appointments during the protest, and one person was likely to enlist.

Also, I question the math skills of the SDS. They claim a “2:3” person ration, when in all reality, they could barely get three dozen folks to show up and there were over 75 pro-troops supporters there. This, when one of the leaders of this “protest”, as identified in the Tribune article, was Tacoma middle school teacher, Nathan Bowling.

If you hit this link to the SDS site, you’ll see a video made by SDS/IMC members. In a number of shots you’ll see , unsurprisingly, middle-school aged children. Giving out extra credit, Mr. Bowling?

But mostly, the video is of some black-blocker named Joe La Sac wandering around and pretending to be an “Estonian exchange student” and interviewing folks on both sides of the protest.

Oddly enough, they didn’t seem to have the balls to be honest to everyone and only used the exchange student story when interviewing the pro-soldiers folks.

Note to Joe La Sac: You’re accent sucks, btw.

Also in the video, you’ll hear him whine about how one of the local radio stations “organized” the pro-soldier folks. He says this because a few of the signs on the other side of the rally had a station logo on them. Part of his whine was that “they don’t have a radio station on their side.”

Hmmm, again, I don’t think they know what they’re talking about.

But this isn’t the end of it.

They actually think they’re going to get near Fort Lewis next Saturday the 22th.

Program

Noon–Resource tables and family friendly activities

1 PM–Participatory discussion–civilians, veterans and soldiers

2 PM– Speakers and Music (Iraq veterans and more TBA)

3 PM–March to the Gates of Ft. Lewis

3:30 PM–Bannering at I-5 and Vigil at the gates

4 PM return to park

Changing the world, one five hour bannering at a time.

It’s gonna be a busy day for these jackasses, since after the bannering they’ll have plenty of time to cruise on up to the Museum of History and Industry for the local Troofer Convention later that evening!

9/11 Blueprint for Truth – The Architecture of Destruction

Architect Richard Gage will discuss how he believes the destruction of the World Trade Center Towers was accomplished by controlled demolition on March 22nd at 7 p.m. at the Museum of History and Industry.

Richard Gage, AIA, is a Bay Area architect and founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. He has, in his 20 years of practicing architecture, worked on numerous fire-proofed steel-framed buildings.

Fire has never melted steel!

No Hooker Zone

I’d like to point out something I’ve noticed about the Spitzer-dealio over this last week that I haven’t seen addressed as of yet.

Federal investigations of high ranking political officials apparently require a thumbs-up from the DOJ once it is found that said high ranking individual is a party in the investigation.

Is this some sort of fallout from J. Edgar?

I noticed this while surfing the leftosphere and reading their “It’s another witch-trial all about sex!!1!” posts. They are, of course, not even bothering to note the Bank Secrecy Act violations portion of the investigation and are instead trying to find out which AG OK’d the investigation and hang them instead. Never mind that some sort of wrongdoing had to have been found before whichever AG actually got a heads-up.

They even actually seem offended that candidates with a (D) after their name can even be investigated when there is an administration run by an (R) in power.

But why is this needing a go-ahead even part of the law? Personally, I know I’d sleep better at night if every pol was being watched like a potential criminal. They’d know what I feel like every time I purchase a firearm.

Anyone know anything about this?

Weekend Suckage

Had some running around to do yesterday, and by the time I made it home I was too beat to drive down to the Tacoma to video the protest.

Not that my presence was missed. Here is the news report.

Those who would harrass and abuse the recruiters were only able to find three dozen people to show up at their “Anniversary Party”. And it didn’t even start until the afternoon!

2004285102.jpg
After the leaking of an unclassified warning to military personnel to stay away from Tacoma Mall so as to not antagonize the protesters by at least one of the local talk stations, at least twice as many pro-America folks showed up to swap verbiage with those who would harass and abuse America’s fighting men and women.

Ooh-RA! and mega-Hoowa to all those who were able to make it.

Today is “parts pulling day” and there’ll probably be pictures later.

Either way, because of the lack of visitation to snooze-ville, as well as the stupid weather forecast for during “parts pulling time”, this iz mah happi face.

Hope you’re having a better one.

Incumbent Protection Bill

Washington State House of Representatives are sending a bill to the state senate that will give the newspapers in the state a lower tax rate on their ad revenue.

Washington newspapers are looking for a $1 million tax break this year – a tax break that’d be worth nearly $3 million to the industry in the next full, two-year budget. The bill to cut taxes on money made from online ad sales passed the House 85-5 and awaits a vote in the Senate.

House Bill 2585, sponsored by Rep. (and treasurer candidate) Jim McIntire, D-Seattle, would change the definition of a newspaper to include online publication. That would mean newspapers would pay the Business and Occupation tax rate of 0.484 percent for printing and publishing rather than the 1.5 percent rate charged on income made from other services. The existing tax scheme – with the existing tax break on ad sales – became law before newspapers were published online as well as on paper.

For the coming year, the tax cut would mean a loss of $946,000 in state revenue, according to legislative committee estimates, and $2.7 million for the next two-year budget. The bill was amended by the Senate Ways and Means Committee to sunset after three years.

How convenient.

Its an election year, and the current group of legislators, or 85 of them so far at least, have voted to save the community dead-tree blathering society over $3.5 million over three years.

Endorsements are on the way, I’m sure.

Guess the similarities

In the locations described in this article.

Two shootings raise questions: Are shopping malls safe?

Despite two recent shootings at Seattle-area shopping malls, police and security experts say malls are no less safe than other places where people congregate in large numbers.

….

Officials with several police departments said Thursday they have not encountered increased crime or an uptick in gang activity in area malls, including Southcenter, Northgate, Alderwood and Bellevue Square. But Wednesday’s shooting, coming less than three weeks after a 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg in a parking lot at Northgate on Feb. 22, has left some shoppers and employees concerned about mall security.

If you’re guess is that all of the locations mentioned have a food court, you’re right, but you’re missing the point.

Here is the second paragraph of the article. Maybe this will help.

“It’s a big public place where people gather,” Tukwila police spokesman Mike Murphy said of Westfield Shoppingtown Southcenter mall, scene of Wednesday night’s shooting. “For the same reason that shoppers like to gather there, bad guys like to gather there: It’s convenient.”

Yes, it is convenient. But that is only part of the reason “bad guys” go there.

They’re also all Gun Free Zones.

Which means that the answer to the question that was the title to the article is: NO, they are not safe. You are not allowed to defend yourself at these places and the bad guys have figured this out. Mall Ninjas will not take a bullet for you, even if they have the opportunity.

Which is yet another reason why I won’t go.

When you make something free

People line up for it.

And when they don’t their free whatever, they get violent.

A crowd of more than 500 people waiting for hours this morning for housing voucher applications were dispersed by police in riot gear at the Boca Raton Housing Authority when the applications ran out sooner than expected.

The action prompted complaints that officers used excessive tactics and housing authority officials were incompetent in their planning.

Maybe the people complaining should look at themselves as incompetent in their planning. If you have to ask the government to house you, something is wrong.

The overwhelming turnout of people desperate for housing money came as little surprise to Suzanne Cabrera, president of the Housing Leadership Council of Palm Beach County.

“This is an indication that housing it’s still a huge problem,” Cabrera said this afternoon.

Actually, its an indication people wanting to live in a tropical paradise for free are still a huge problem. Why the hell are they living in hyper-expensive Boca Raton if they can’t afford the rents?

A study the council conducted Jan. 29 shows the number of people needing housing is still pretty high.

Wrong. The number of people who need to move to a cheaper locale is still pretty high. I would have to say that Boca is doing pretty well, with full residency. These folks are extras who need to move on.

And WTF? Haven’t these people been listening to AlGore? Boca will be under water in just a few years, fer crissakes!. They need to move out of town like right now!
