No Hooker Zone

I’d like to point out something I’ve noticed about the Spitzer-dealio over this last week that I haven’t seen addressed as of yet.

Federal investigations of high ranking political officials apparently require a thumbs-up from the DOJ once it is found that said high ranking individual is a party in the investigation.

Is this some sort of fallout from J. Edgar?

I noticed this while surfing the leftosphere and reading their “It’s another witch-trial all about sex!!1!” posts. They are, of course, not even bothering to note the Bank Secrecy Act violations portion of the investigation and are instead trying to find out which AG OK’d the investigation and hang them instead. Never mind that some sort of wrongdoing had to have been found before whichever AG actually got a heads-up.

They even actually seem offended that candidates with a (D) after their name can even be investigated when there is an administration run by an (R) in power.

But why is this needing a go-ahead even part of the law? Personally, I know I’d sleep better at night if every pol was being watched like a potential criminal. They’d know what I feel like every time I purchase a firearm.

Anyone know anything about this?

I wrote about this on Rivrdog blog last week:

Spitzer knew this, and was suspiciously quick to take advantage of all these loopholes after he was caught.

This suggests to me that he KNEW he would be caught and have to defend himself, and therefore had perpetrated a conspiracy (if we can find the others he perpetrated it with). History shows us that this sort of behavior tends to run within small circles, and as soon as we find his partners in crime, together with the illegal wiring of money across state lines for hookers, we have a bona-fide conspiracy to jug him on.
