It’ll be like a “vacation present”

I’ll be on vacation in Montana during the August meeting of the mental midgets in Denver, CO (aka: The Democratic National Convention). With Denver being so accomodating, it likes like the disagreeables will simply have a riot of a time there.

Protesters will not be confined to “cages” during the 2008 Democratic National Convention, and the city wants to get away from the long lines of shoulder-to-shoulder, riot-gear-clad police that typified security at the national conventions in Boston and New York, Denver City Councilman Charlie Brown said today. “We don’t want to provoke violence,” Brown said.

Brown said he talked with Mayor John Hickenlooper on Wednesday and that the two discussed “trying to get away from having lines of police officers.”

Brown later asserted: “We aren’t going to cage protesters.”

The councilman made his comments before a group of about 50 students and others at the University of Denver law school, where local law groups are sponsoring a four-day series of workshops and discussions that offer training and tips for activists and protesters planning to demonstrate in and around convention week.

Yes, show the “revolution” seekers your hand early and maybe they won’t get all worked up and bring things like Tasers with them like some have planned to do at the RNC.

The RNC Welcoming Committee (RNC-WC), an anarchist and anti-authoritarian organizing body based in the Twin Cities, announced today that it has ordered tasers for each of its members and friends. The announcement comes on the heels of last month’s St. Paul City Council approval of a St. Paul Police Department (SPPD) request for 234 tasers. Due to a unique corporate-anarchist confidentiality agreement, the exact number of tasers or documentable evidence of this new order will not be disclosed.

Once the RNC-WC order is finalized, the St. Paul Police Department will no longer have a monopoly on the weapons that have been implicated in hundreds of deaths nationwide.

Or maybe, if you show your hand this early, they’ll just have multiple staging areas and back up plans ready for your city’s constabulary.

Remember, if it looks like a gun, you are justified to defend yourself.

Reason #308729 to make sure Obama doesn’t win the White House

We like Mr. Obama and we hope he will win the election. He has a vision to change America.

Ahmed Yousef – Prime Minister of Hamas – WABC Radio 04/13/08

This is also Reason #853 that folks like those at the dKos Animal Farm and Petting Zoo want Obama to win the White house.

Sound Familiar?

Feds to collect DNA from anyone they arrest

The government plans to begin collecting DNA samples from anyone arrested by a federal law-enforcement agency, a move intended to prevent violent crime but that also is raising concerns about the privacy of innocent people.

Using authority granted by Congress, the government also plans to collect DNA samples from foreigners who are detained, even if they have not been charged.

Hello citizen, just a swab please, and you’ll be free to go.

Put young children on DNA list, urge police

Primary school children should be eligible for the DNA database if they exhibit behaviour indicating they may become criminals in later life, according to Britain’s most senior police forensics expert.

Gary Pugh, director of forensic sciences at Scotland Yard and the new DNA spokesman for the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo), said a debate was needed on how far Britain should go in identifying potential offenders, given that some experts believe it is possible to identify future offending traits in children as young as five.

It’s for their own good you know. All the good mums are getting it done.

I know who’s cheating here

And it isn’t me.

Tax free internet shopping days may be numbered

If tax-hungry politicians get their way, the days of ordering items over the Internet and not paying sales tax may become just a fond memory.

Right now, if a California resident orders something from Seattle-based Amazon.com, for instance, he or she won’t be charged sales tax at the time of purchase. That’s because Amazon doesn’t have offices in the state of California.

Pro-tax politicians want to change this by allowing California to force Amazon to collect and submit sales taxes–and they may have found an ally in a U.S. Congress that’s controlled by Democrats.

“MAY have found a friend” in the Democrats? They haven’t found a thing that isn’t a government entitlement program that they don’t want to tax.

It won’t be until after the election, but no matter who gets into the white house, this going to happen.

But this line is the clincher

Verenda Smith, government affairs associate for the Federation of Tax Administrators, framed the decision as a moral one of sorts: “Do you want to be a good American, or do you want to be an American who wants to cheat your government deliberately? It’s a harsh way to look at it, but it’s true.”

Methinks someone has a serious case of needing to retake herself a civics class and learn about interstate commerce. If I was a resident of CA and had driven, flown, rode a train or walked to WA to buy a book, I wouldn’t be paying sales tax and there is no reason out of state folks should be paying because of the World Wide Web.

The Soundboard: The “I’m not wearing one of those gowns” Edition

First off, I’d like to give two very big thumbs-up to David for carrying yesterday through on short notice.

As you may have guessed, I was again invited, with a tad bit more insistence than the last time, to be the guest for a day at the local Medical Center with the bigoted “No Weapons Zone” policy.

Once again, for the 8.5 hours I was there, they were not a “No Weapons Zone”.

And also once again, I am reminded why I don’t like hospitals: The people there poke at you with sharp things (for your own good, they say) and no matter how much they try to keep it away, I can smell the death seeping through the walls.

To which today’s tunage is related to my absolute insistence that I spend as little time as possible in the facility, I cut short my stay, filled out the required discharge forms (requested upon my arrival), got into my street clothes and walked out much earlier than anyone but I had suspected.

Hit the link and RTWT

Gentlemen, I have rambled on for too long. But as I finish I say to you, as a foreigner and outsider, a nation is only a collection of its people and its attitude is the attitude of its people, collectively and as individuals. I am really glad you are here on this Earth and I respect you as a nation and as people.

Peter Turner – Father and Australian

But remember, BHO and HRC will tell you that the entire world hates America and that they want to “fix the problem”.

Personally, I don’t see a problem.

It kind of reminds me of the old days

Except that back then the union thugs were beating up the right to work people and not each other

In its latest deplorable action, the Service Employees International Union bused in hundreds of its purple clad staff to break up a conference of union members and activists Saturday night in Dearborn, Mich.

…………

In Dearborn Saturday night, at least seven busloads, carrying up to 800 SEIU staff in purple jackets and T-shirts drove up to the Hyatt Regency Hotel where the banquet hosted by Labor Notes was culminating a weekend conference on topics including union democracy, health care reform, and encouraging the resurgent growth of labor.

Upon unloading from the buses, the hundreds of picket-sign wielding staff stormed the hotel and pushed their way through doors to break into the ballroom where the event was being held.

While breaking in the building, the SEIU staff, now joined by SEIU staff inside the building, physically assaulted a group of union members and activists at the door.

As Labor Notes themselves noted in a press release: A recently retired member of United Auto Workers Local 235, Dianne Feeley, suffered a head wound after being knocked to the ground by SEIU International staff and local members. Other conference-goers–members of the Teamsters, UAW, UNITE HERE, International Longshoremen’s Association, and SEIU itself–were punched, kicked, shoved, and pushed to the floor.

As the SEIU staff broke into the hall, some three dozen CNA/NNOC nurses and leaders, there to attend the conference, including Malinda Markowitz, RN, a member of CNA/NNOC’s Council of Presidents, who was scheduled to speak in DeMoro’s place, were whisked out the back of the hall for their safety, leaving in vans. The atmosphere was so tense that hotel cooks tried to climb into the vans to join them for fear of their own safety.

Not to be sociopathic, but good gawd almighty, how I would love the opportunity of multiple targets all marching at me in a line while I witness them assault a grandmother.

Forget needing a bigger boat, I’m gonna need bigger magazines. Left to right or right to left, Chief Brody?

That is one good way

To not be prosecuted for sexually assaulting a child

080414_house_explosion_4_large.jpg
And frankly, I wouldn’t mind one single bit if more creepy fucks like this guy took themselves out.

The man killed by a homemade bomb at a Pierce County house was under investigation in connection with sexual assaults on children, detectives told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The body of Zane Dittman was found in the charred rubble of the home in the South Hill area after an explosion and fire destroyed the home early Tuesday morning.

Dittman, 26, was a registered sex offender who rented a room in the home from a couple. They had returned from a trip when they found he had changed the locks, was drinking and working on a bomb, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

They called sheriff’s deputies, who saw Dittman flee upstairs. Moments later, a blast blew off the top floor and fire engulfed the home, officials said.

Not necessarily with explosives, mind you. But if society can’t teach these bastards that children are off limits, maybe we can at least instill in them a need to kill themselves?

I guy has to hope, you know?

The Myth of the Lama

Don’t believe the hype.

Otherwise, you may very well end up like these teachers and administrators

South Sound school district spokesmen said sending students to an event featuring the Dalai Lama on Monday provided a rare opportunity for them to see a Nobel Peace Prize winner and did not violate the concept of separation of church and state.

North Thurston spokeswoman Courtney Schrieve said teachers were using the Buddhist leader’s Seeds of Compassion curriculum to discourage harassing behavior.

“It’s teaching kids about compassion and anti-bullying,” she said. “It’s a chance of a lifetime for these kids to learn about the role that compassion and empathy have not only on the playground but off the playground.”

Olympia district spokesman Peter Rex said the message was nonsectarian, and lessons about empathy are something taught at school.

You see, they bought the hype that the Dalai Lama was a peaceful “World Leader” and Nobel Laureate only, forgetting that he is first and forermost the Numero Uno Buddhist on the planet.

Replace any and all mention of the Lama in the news story and replace it with “Billy Graham”.

Notice the difference in the teacher’s attitudes? Graham is no less accomplished than the Lama, other than that worthless political necklace prize known as The Nobel. In fact, Graham has written more on the subject of “Peace” and “Compassion” and “Empathy” in the English language than the Lama has.

But mention Graham’s name in front of a teacher or administrator on school grounds and you’ll be looking at letters home, Billy and Suzie.

Now, personally, I could care less than a piss if the kids are being taken to see the Lama, or Graham, or the resurrected corpse of Anton LeVey. But the hypocrisy here could be spread with a butter knife and probably has more grams of fat than butter as well.

Boomershoot Domination

With the Pachmayr Dominator. DOMINATOR3082-vi.jpg

Actually, I won’t be dominating much of anything with it because I don’t yet have the complete gun as shown at right — all I’ve got is the 15″ barrel assembly “upper” (in .308 Win) that fits on a 1911 frame. I’ve got a T’SOB mount/ring combo, and Phil’s bringing the Burris scope I’m going to put on it, but even then — I don’t own a 1911. (This is a funny sort of BAG Day purchase, because I’m doing it in stages.) So hopefully Phil will remember to bring his 1911 so I can test this baby out.
Then you all can start giving me advice on which 1911 I should buy…. I know Joe swears by STI, but, STI won’t sell to California — and good for them! If more manufacturers followed suit, there’d be a lot more pressure on the Legislature to change our laws.

Still, there’s a legal loophole I could exploit to purchase an STI lawfully — of course, that assumes I could afford an STI in the first place. Considering I’d stick the .45 slide and barrel in a drawer as soon as I took it home, I think I need to be looking for something cheaper….

UPDATE: Now I have a 1911 for this beast.
