Boomershoot Picture of the Day

After the Boomershoot 2007 Anvil Launch came the Anvil Landing. It was firmly embedded in the ground after it landed.

Not quite a fire sale

But they’re still hoping for a fool with money burning a hole in their pocket.

Yes, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer is for sale and I’m rooting for no bids.

This is the paper whose Editor famously told America that it was his “job” to be “The Decider” as to what was “news” and what wasn’t. He “Decided that it wasn’t important to run a picture of two suspicious men aboard our very vulnerable ferry system. And he was put upon a pedestal by the left for it.

But you’ll remember that when a certain duly elected Chief Executive of the United States said that he is “The Decider” of his office’s policy, we got to hear about it for years.

If one standard is good, two must be better, right?

Meanwhile, the left is dabbing their eyes with a hankie for the PI. they have a hatred they feel righteous in holding for the Seattle Times because every month or so they come up with an Editorial like this one.

We have barely over a half a million people in this city and we have two daily newspapers and I think you can see the problem here. Even if half of the households signed up for seven-day a week home delivery service of this particular paper, it wouldn’t be enough to keep the doors open. It would literally take half of every man, woman and child within the city buying a paper out of the street box at prime cost to save this bloated monster.

Good riddance, I say.

RNS Quote of the Day: 01/12/09

Obama made his “Big Economic Speech” on Thursday, during which he said

To finally spark the creation of a clean energy economy, we will double the production of alternative energy in the next three years.

To which Hal_10000 of Right Thinking from the Left Coast responded, crafting our QotD

Barack Obama, with his civil engineering degree from Georgia Tech and his degree in thermodynamics from MIT, can guarantee what physics and engineering will produce in the near future.

Hal_10000

To which I’d like to add that Obama further promised to “modernize” more than 75% of existing government buildings. Can the left not see the pork that will be involved here?

He also included improving the energy efficiency of two million homes in his figures. Let us all hope that these lucky homeowners don’t demand stainless appliances when they’re choosing their new ones.

Building solar panels, wind turbines and fuel-efficient cars “putting Americans to work” are among his other plans. Because Suzy-babymaker and Billy-StonerBro, neither of which could graduate high school, are going to be so easily trained to do all of these high-tech jobs.

I don’t think I can fortell just how big a train wreck this’ll be yet. But it is going to be ugly.

They have a point, you know

I speak of M4GW (aka: Minnesotans For Global Warming).

After all, their version of the Iditarod has been closed down.

Because there is too much snow!

Here’s another entry for the annals of noteworthy winter weather: The dogsled race near Frazee, Minn., has been canceled because there’s too much snow.

Too much fluffy snow that keeps drifting and therefore made it impossible to maintain a groomed trail.

That poses a safety risk to the dogs, supercharged canines whose mushers need a groomed trail to drop a hook to stop when necessary.

“We can’t pack it,” race organizer Eddy Streeper said Monday. “We just can’t get it packed. We had to speak up on behalf of the dogs.”

The Third Crossing Sled Dog Rendezvous, slated for Jan. 23-24, would have been the ninth annual running of the sprint races, which twice were canceled for lack of snow.

This winter, as anyone with a driveway knows, has been a season of prodigious snows.

One of my coworkers remarked, when the Seattle area got its foot-plus last month, that one of his new neighbors moved here this summer from Minnesota. When he woke up to the “Arctic Onslaught”, he looked over to this new neighbor’s place to see him mosey out of his garage with this rather large snowblower.

He went over when the guy was finished to BS with him about the machine and the guy told him that his wife had remarked while they were packing up for the move that he should sell it because they wouldn’t need it in Washington.

Well, maybe not every year, but he was sure glad he had it this year. And yes, the guy let my coworker borrow it for his driveway.

You Scream

I scream.

But the leftists scream for “Yes, Pecan” ice cream. The new Obama-inspired flavor from Ben & Jerry’s.

I seriously doubt that they will make the flavor that Obama inspired me to think up
