I do wonder exactly how can a newspaper claim to be balanced, or the leftists be able spout that a paper is a “right-wing mouthpiece”, if they only let one side of a debate speak on their pages.

I also wonder exactly where Mr. Fascitelli gets his information. Anyone who pays attention knows that the above sentence is a lie. California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia, just to name a few of the states whose cities were the most recent murder capitals of America and all who have the most strict firearms laws in America.

In stark contrast to the relatively fair minded piece in the post below on the subject of the rise in firearms sales, this weekend the Seattle Times gave multiple column inches to the President of the anti-private firearms ownership group, Washington CeaseFire.

And they didn’t fact check his piece either.

Right-wing mouthpiece, indeed.

The Wonders of Socialized Medicine

They attempted taking them three at a time.

A woman died in labour in a hospital lavatory after her induction was delayed because of a lack of specialist staff, an inquest was told yesterday.

Sarah Underhill, a policewoman aged 37, was in her 36th week of pregnancy when she was admitted to hospital suffering from pre-eclampsia.

The birth was to have been induced because of her condition, which causes high blood pressure. She was admitted to the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Oxford, on October 2 last year but the procedure was planned for October 6. However, the day before she was due to be induced she collapsed in the toilet and was forced to call for help by banging on the door.

Doctors fought to save her twins, conceived by IVF, but she died without having seen them. The babies were delivered by emergency Caesarean section and survived after a “magnificent” effort by staff.

Maybe it was lost in translation from The Queen’s English, but here in the US, a “Magnificent Effort” by the staff would have included the mother NOT dying.

Those numbers represent the percentage of increase in concealed pistol licenses from January through March of 2008 and January through March 2009 in the state of Washington, and the percentage of handguns sold January though March of 2009 as compared to the entire number of firearms sold throughout 2007. Respectively.

He wants the law to force someone to kill him

Not today. Probably not tomorrow. But some time in the future, Lee (aka: The Him) over at HorsesAss.org is demanding that doctors be forced to prescribe lethal medications to those who want and qualify for them.

This last November Washington State voters approved something very similar to Oregon’s groundbreaking “Death With Dignty” law via a Citizen’s Initiative. I voted for it because I believe that it is my decision to end my life. I believe that that should be the case in all circumstances, but especially if I am living in constant pain and or suffering from something incurable.

However, Lee now believes that it is a “right” and therefore believes that if a patient qualifies under the law, that their doctor should be forced to prescribe said lethal drugs. It doesn’t sound like he wants to force them to administer them, but he is insulted that a couple folks in the more conservative side of the state are having to travel west of the Cascades to get the writ.

The “Death With Dignity” law is exactly that: A Law. Laws are not rights, they are guidlines. If laws were rights, there would be no justifiable homicide, or any self-defense laws at all, for that matter.

Just another example of a liberal showing that he has absolutely no clue at to what “rights” are.

More Boomershoot Prep

My bench, assembled upside down for test-fitting of the legs. Spare leg sections this time, so I don’t end up having to kneel like last year because the slope was so great it was all I could do to level it.

Squeaky’s bench:

Instead of 2″ steel pipe like mine, she’s got mostly 1″ pipe. It’ll still hold several hundred pounds and can be adjusted for any slope — plenty of additional leg segments in varied lengths.

FYI, the cost of the 1″ steel for Squeaky’s bench was a little bit more this year than I paid for the equivalent 2″ steel in 2005.

Both benches’ leg segments are all well-lubed with WD-40 (and a can of Kroil’s coming along for the ride, just in case).

I am the Modren Man

Entering the 21st Century, I am. I’ve still got much of my laboriously-recorded high-school music favorites stored on cassette tapes. The Toyota Tacoma’s had a busted CD player for three years now, but the tape deck still works. Two years ago I drove to and from Boomershoot listening to tapes. Last year I found out about “Car Kits” that let you play a portable CD player through your tape deck. This year….

Say hello to the Sansa Clip, 8 gigabytes (!!!!!) of mp3s, playable through that same car kit. Wal-Mart. $50. That’s a deal.
My nephew hooked me up with some ripping software, and I’m grabbing stuff from the “Vocal Trance” channel on (cough) a particular Internet radio station (cough) familiar to RNS readers. I should have all 8 gigs filled by the time I depart Tuesday morning.

So that they could blame “THE GUNS”. The true story wasn’t good enough, so they made one up.

Think you know everything about the murders at Columbine High School in Littleton, CO from 10 years ago?

You don’t.

And most of what you thought was true is/was wrong.

Hit this link and read a textbook case of how the media takes a rumor and pushes it until it becomes “The Truth”.

UPDATE: I’ve been flipping through the channels and reading the local and national news this weekend to find exactly what I thought would happen (and why I posted this): Large quantities of “Columbine 10 Years After” coverage.

Either they haven’t read the updated story (hard to believe) or they want to keep lying about the incident (makes for easy copy).

What is the use of having a Free Press if they don’t change their reporting to reflect the changes discovered over the last decade?
