It’s not keeping me up at night

But my mind keeps wandering over to the place where it wonders what all the Norks got from Clinton for the release of Ling and Lee.

After all, this is the guy whose Secretary of State worked hard for, and who personally OK’d the transfer of, nuke reactors to Kim to try and appease him.

And while I do wish the two ladies and their families the best in readjusting their home lives there is one other thought on this topic that won’t leave my brain:

The top story on all channels this week involves Bill Clinton, two young ladies and the phrase “Happy Ending”.

Just Another Brick in the Wall

Okay, I[ve been totally falling down on my intended three Boomershoot Photos of the Day per day and one Barcelona Pic of the Day per day. Why? Well, aside from catching up at work, I’ve been frantically trying to clear the side yard of accumulated stuff so that forklifts and a front-end loader can drive thru to the back of the house.

Basically, a confluence of events have pushed up our plans to rip out the old wooden retaining walls in the back yard and replace them with basalt block walls over a period of months. Now we’re gonna do it in about four weekends.

One of my uncles got a line on some gorgeous beveled-edge (ooooh) basalt blocks (retail about $4/block) and we’re getting ’em for under half-price — delivered. The catch is, they’re an overrun from some construction project, and when they’re gone, they’re gone — so we need to buy all of the block we’ll need NOW, ’cause we won’t be able to get more later.

That means I’ve got to make room in the yard for ten pallets of the stuff. My uncle’s also gonna bring his CAT down gratis to scrape the accumulated slumpage of 30 years clean and dig me a nice footing trench, before the pallets show up and take up all the turning space in the yard. Between my uncle’s free time, the CAT availability, and the deal on the blocks, we couldn’t afford to pass this up — even though we really can’t afford it after Barcelona.

Let’s just say that despite my long-held belief that living close to extended family members if you’re a reasonably successful person is actually counterproductive, a drain on your time and resources, and generally a pain in the ass, well, the balance is finally shifting in our favor a little bit. This is a BIG favor by my uncle and we really appreciate it.

Pics to come! Oh, yeah, if installing ten pallets’ worth of 65-pound blocks has any exercise value, I expect I’ll be yoked by the Rondy.

No, it’s not Saturday

But there won’t be any posting from me today (other than this).

I’ve got to take a drive this AM that’ll eat up all my posting time.

Then, when I get back, I’ve got to hit the rack and die for a while so that I can get up early for work. Tonight is The Wife’s and her co-worker’s “Saturday” and it’s her turn to host the HenNight.

Apparently, thanks to previous HenNights, my gentialia have taken on legendary status among the group and I’ve been warned to be gone so as to not become the topic of discussion/show-and-tell. I told her I didn’t mind a bit, but she said that she would, so I get to go to work early.

In retaliation, I warned that any Hen still here tomorrow when I get home from work will get Potato Sacked (the only Teabagging I do is political).

So stop by tomorrow for news, music, cotton candy and juggling clowns, except without the clowns or cotton candy.

Rifle Maintenance: Have you Changed your Bolt Fluid Yet?

Found on Calguns. Apparently a “classic” IM thread. Keyboard warning: don’t be drinking anything when reading this.

This whole deal happened via IM while chatting about what Jason B. was getting done to his rifles @ Jerry Newman’s shop…

Not to make you paranoid

But this is the reason I brought no firearms with me to the GBR last year.

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that several baggage handlers working for a company contracted by Delta Airlines were busted in a sting operation that was launched following the theft of a handgun from a retired police sergeant’s luggage.

The brilliant individuals who masterminded this theft were caught when three bags loaded with goodies were checked on two different flights and items stolen from the bags were found in an employee’s work locker. The decoy items included a game system, an Apple laptop, a gold watch and foreign currency.

The custom-made handgun was later recovered from one of the workers’ home.

SeaTac Airport is one of the worst in the nation. FBI agents get their department issued automatic weapons stolen from SeaTac.

So I will make PacNW local Gun Blogger Rendezvous IV attendees this offer:

I will be driving down to Reno this year. I am bringing a selection of firearms with me. For a nominal fee (aka: Less than the airlines will charge you) I will transport your firearms and their ammunition to Reno and back (I wouldn’t charge at all except that I need to make up some of the cost of fuel).

I’m taking a 3/4ton truck and will have plenty of spare room in the cab and under the locked canopy. Your guns will be next to my guns. The security I provide to mine I will provide to yours.

Have a think on it. Let me know if you’re interested.

I’m also still looking for a passenger. I’ve guestimated fuel costs to total approximately $360 for the round trip. Divide that in half and it’s about the same as I paid for airfare last year.

Have a think on that as well.

Overblown

Apparently, we’re all miltia-crazies now.

A woman was arrested for taking pictures of an ANG base near Long Island, NY and charged with trespassing. This was her second visit to take pictures. She believed that some of the new barracks there were to be part of an internment camp for non-Obamabots.
She had a 12ga shotgun and an AR clone, along with ammo for both, inside her car.

She also has a MySpace page with a Molon Labe logo where she talks about her admiration for Glenn Beck.

Adding this all up, according to local hatemonger, David Neiwert, means she was going to go on a killing spree and was only caught just in time.

I think I can tell which individual is the more insane and paranoid. (Hint: It isn’t Ms. Genovese.)

Oh, that silly Orwell!

That stuff from 1984 will never happen!

Thousands of the worst families in England are to be put in “sin bins” in a bid to change their bad behaviour, Ed Balls announced yesterday. The Children’s Secretary set out £400million plans to put 20,000 problem families under 24-hour CCTV super-vision in their own homes.

They will be monitored to ensure that children attend school, go to bed on time and eat proper meals.

Private security guards will also be sent round to carry out home checks, while parents will be given help to combat drug and alcohol addiction.

Oh, sure. They’re gonna start with the “Baddies”.

Then they start finding more and more reason to declare people “Bad”.

Shortly thereafter, you’ll report to your television every morning before work and evening before bed.

But don’t worry. That book was just fiction, citizen.

A Reminder

For some unknown reason, this story popped back up on the wires yesterday. Either way, old or new, it is a window into the future under Obamacare.

For those that missed it last June, the State of  Oregon refused a woman enrolled in their state health care program her chemotherapy treatment because she wasn’t a viable candidate for recovery. They instead offered to pay for her to die via the assisted suicide program legalized in that state.

Now, I’m all for assisted suicide (and I don’t only mean what needs to be done to repeat child molesters). However, using that program as a replacement for cancer treatment just to save the government run health care program a few bucks is disgusting, to say the least.
