Again?

Two Pierce County sheriff’s officers responding to a dispute between two brothers were ambushed by one of the brothers lying in wait with a gun after being welcomed into the home by the other, authorities said. The gunman was killed and the officers were seriously wounded.

One deputy is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, the other is in serious condition at Madigan Army Medical Center.

The shooting is the third in three months in which authorities say a gunman has taken aim at law enforcement officials in Washington state.

Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said a sergeant and a deputy were shot at around 8:45 p.m. Monday while responding to a dispute between David Crable and his brother near Eatonville, a rural community in the Cascade foothills.

David Crable, 35, shot the two officers before he was killed when they returned fire, Troyer said. The names of the officers were not immediately released.

The officers were greeted at the door by Crable’s brother, while Crable was in the house arming himself, Troyer said. When the deputies entered the house, Crable opened fire from upstairs, hitting one of the officers multiple times.

Jesus H. Christ on a flaming pogo stick! Another turd of society taking his impotence at running his own life out on the constables.

However, I’m doubting the accuracy of some of the reporting because of some of the “unpossible”

Pierce County sheriff’s records show Crable was convicted earlier this year of exhibiting or displaying a weapon with intent to intimidate.

He also has been arrested for malicious mischief and assault and had a no-contact order by his 16-year-old daughter who lived with Crable’s brother. Troyer said Crable had a history of “terrorizing” his family. He was arrested by Pierce County sheriff’s deputies about a month ago for driving under the influence.

The law says this guy couldn’t have had a gun. He’s a felon and a DV suspect.

And not to be snarky, but I’m sure that Joyce or one of their brood will add the fact that the deputies had their pistols to their “statistic” of carrying a gun making you more likely to be shot. Hell, the way they make stuff up, it wouldn’t surprise me if they add these two men to the list of people shot with their own weapon.

I happened to be pumping gas this morning with the windows open and radio blaring, and when he said the above (and some of the rant that followed) I saw some heads snap around to look at me with wide eyes (kinda like the occasional pale-faced reaction to my Teabagger rifle shirt.)

And he’s right. I’d use the militarization of the police forces as an example.

Instead of taking care of the problem themselves, folks just started letting their constabularies arm up and up and up until one day Officer Friendly has an APC. I’m not saying full-on vigilantism is better, though putting a personalized neighborhood ass-whupping on the kids dealing drugs and tagging would look a damn sight more like “Justice” than letting the current juvenile justice system do its handiwork.

Another example I’d use is people handing their kids over to the state for feeding, nurturing and other parental stuff. Before you get all disturbed hearing about the cop that Tasered a 10yr old girl because she wouldn’t do what her mom wanted, get disturbed that the mom thought that calling the police was her best solution to getting little Suzie to go to bed.

Well, of course they did

Why would the Democrats split the pie anywhere near evenly when it is only their supporters they care about helping?

A new analysis of the $157 billion distributed by the American Reinvestment and Recovery act, popularly known as the stimulus bill, shows that the funds were distributed without regard for what states were most in need of jobs.

“You would think that if the stimulus money was actually spent to create jobs, there would be more stimulus money spent in high unemployment states,” said Veronique de Rugy, a scholar at the Mercatus Center who produced the analysis. “But we don’t find any correlation.”

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University in Virginia is one of the nation’s most respected economic and regulatory think tanks and has a Nobel prize-winning economist on staff. The econometric analysis was done using data provided by Recovery.gov — the government website devoted to tracking the stimulus data — as well as a host of other government databases.

Additionally, Mercatus found that stimulus funds were not disbursed geographically with any special regard for low-income Americans. “We find no correlation between economic indicators and stimulus funding. Preliminary results find no statistically significant effect of unemployment, median income or mean income on stimulus funds allocation,” said the report.

The Mercatus Center analysis also found that Democratic congressional districts received on average almost double the funding of Republican congressional districts. Republican congressional districts received on average $232 million in stimulus funds while Democratic districts received $439 million on average.

Washington State, a blue state whose senior Senator just so happens to be head of the transportation committee, is seeing an overly large influx of “stimulus money”.

So much so that the company that built Seattle’s new City Hall and Police Headquarters a couple years back, as well as Qwest Field (where the Seahawks play) before them, has downgraded to going after a number of the repair/update projects along I-5.

Yes, the large projects aren’t quite as large, but they’re still going up. With a decade in the business, I’m finding it a bit strange to get calls from these guys about this or that off-ramp instead of trying to match our truck’s arrival to their crane’s schedule.

The Truth Hurts

Not just crazy. A crazy thug who is willing to use the power of his position to take out those that oppose him.

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), prone for throwing his own political bombs at Republicans, has threatened a local critic with five years in jail for creating the website ‘mycongressmanisnuts.com.‘ The Orlando Sentinel reports that Grayson wrote a letter this week to Attorney General Eric Holder demanding that the federal government imprison Republican activist Angie Langley for five years because of her website criticizing him.

Not just “take it down”, but “take it down or I’ll have you arrested, tried and imprisoned”. If he gets defeated, does anyone want to take bets on which method he’ll use to resist leaving office?

I’ve got my money on him chaining himself to a large heavy object in his Congressional office.

There can be only one.

Ronald Brownstein wrote a piece for The Atlantic on Friday in support of the President’s stand for the Senate health care reform bill that is very dismissive towards the Progressive leftists in the Democrat Party.

What kind of serious journalist, or serious mind, would argue that the only reason people are upset with the president over health care reform is because we already have insurance.

Oh, and we drink wine too, apparently.

Yes, that’s why we’re all so angry that our President is a serial invertebrate. Because we’re spoiled rich kids.

Oh, and he doesn’t stop with Howard Dean. Brownstein goes on to suggest that the liberal blogs, and MoveOn specifically, are, – there’s no other way to interpret this – racists. Brownstein goes on and on and on and on in his article about how we’re all white and our readers are all white, and Howard Deans supporters were all white. If that isn’t race-baiting… I’m just surprised to see the White House buy into it playing the race card.

Their candidate, the one they helped get elected to the highest office in the land, has only one offensive maneuver for those that disagree with him.

I’m taking it that John Aravosis and the rest of the leftosphere doesn’t exactly like getting the same treatment they repeatedly heap upon the Tea Party folks.

They really hate it too that Rahm Emmanuel wrote a piece for the WSJ promoting Brownstien’s article.

Tis a pity that they’ll not learn a thing about flipping that card.

Road Trip

The wife and I and the doggies are heading off to Tulare for a couple days to visit her side of the family. We’ll hit Harris Ranch both going and coming, but even better is that we’ll once again spend the trip reading to each other. Last year we got about a third of the way through Domestic Enemies. (I’ve read it a few times, but this is still the wife’s first read-through. It’s cool that we’re able to set a book on the shelf and pick it up where we left off a year later — and maybe get all the way through this time.)
