Anyway.
They do this because registering your guns on post is one of the most universally ignored .mil regs.

Shortly before I retired they tried to get everyone to register their guns if they were within 200 miles of post–in my off-post home was bad enough, this…?

It’s a principle of leadership that you should never give an order that you know will be disobeyed, but they overly politicized Officer Corps just keeps digging… (With enthusiastic assistance, alas, from some senior NCOs.)
