They don’t want us to lose

They just want the other side to win.

You know those UAV drones we have flying over Afghanistan and Pakistan? Those UAV drones that President Obama has ordered more of? Those UAV drones that are kicking a large quantity of Taliban ass right about now?

You know the UAV drones I’m talking about?

Well, the Democrats in the House of Representatives Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs is holding hearings to find out if our military’s use of them is “Legal”.

Lovely bunch of cocksuckers, aren’t they?

We find a way to keep American and coalition soldiers out of harms way while we do major damage to the enemy’s leadership infrastructure and the Democrats in Congress are looking to shut the program down because the Taliban are surrounding themselves with women and children.

Hope to Believe

You have probably heard of the Democrat’s proposed BELIEVE System?

The national ID program would be titled the Believe System, an acronym for Biometric Enrollment, Locally stored Information and Electronic Verification of Employment.

It would require all workers across the nation to carry a card with a digital encryption key that would have to match work authorization databases.

“The cardholder’s identity will be verified by matching the biometric identifier stored within the microprocessing chip on the card to the identifier provided by the cardholder that shall be read by the scanner used by the employer,” states the Democratic legislative proposal.

Guess who has a problem with it….

The folks at FireDogLake.

But not for the reason you’re thinking.

Now, let’s pretend for a moment that this national ID program would actually fix the problem of employers trying to hire cheap, vulnerable labor rather than paying market rate wages. Let’s pretend for a moment that this national ID program would avoid all of the security and privacy issues that such a program will be bound to have.

Why in fuck’s name would anyone with a “D” next to their name advocate for a national card–of any sort–without at the same time attaching it to automatic voter registration, also tied to the card?

I know! It would be a great thing for Democrats! They could have millions of illegals who are stealing jobs and identites AND voting all with one fell national swoop!

Pelosi and Reid must be totally facepalming right now.

RNS Quote of the Day: 05/04/10

It’s a two-fer!

You know, I don’t want to jump to conclusions here, because that would make me too much like Matt Drudge. But if the car bomber was indeed a white guy in his 40s who didn’t know the difference between ammonium nitrate and plain old fertilizer, I’m thinking it’s gotta be a Beck Patriot who was trying to water the tree of liberty with… the blood of random Times Square tourists.

Let’s see: wrong kind of fertilizer. Shut-off propane tanks. Someone who’s not all that bright, or good with details? Someone who apparently modeled his bomb on those of infamous bombmaker Wile E. Coyote?

Ah, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe it’s a Limbaugh listener.

Do you feel the love yet?

It was the teabaggin’ astroturfers. If it wasn’t, I hope they get fingered for it and and put and end to the (bowel) movement once and for all.

JerryO

An attempt at mass murder, and neither of these folks want to wait for leads to be followed or suspects to be apprehended. Just round up them thar teabaggers and start jailing ’em.

I was listening to Thom Hartman’s radio show yesterday and he was advocating the death penalty for the executives of the the companies involved in the oil rig fire. Not jokingly. He was citing old, rescinded legal statutes and advocating bringing them back.

Who are the most likely potential fascists again?

Fired Because She Wrote A Kinky Sex Blog

TheBeautifulKind’s employer apparently googled her real name, and through “a social media glitch” her anonymous sexblog popped up in the search results. She was then summarily fired.

I hadn’t read her site before becoming aware of this situation today, but you can still glance at her site’s old front page through the magic of Google cache and although tame for the San Francisco Bay Area, I could see a Midwesterner going into apoplectic fits about it. Also, it seems that in St. Louis, Missouri folks are still tight-assed enough to think that somebody’s PRIVATE, ANONYMOUS sexual musings warrant firing them.

It’s as if she wrote an advice column on kink, or published a magazine about it, or even was a successful writer of self-help kink books — all under a pseudonym — and the employer fired her when that fact became known through no fault of the employee, who’d made every effort to keep her two selves private and separated. They may have the legal right (“at-will” employment) but that’s just WRONG.

A magazine article on the firing, with some good background and legal analysis, is here.
Watch yourselves, gunbloggers! There’s a lesson here for you if you choose to learn it. Either work for an employer that won’t care what non-work topics you blog about; live in a state (like California) where this sort of firing is difficult at best for an employer to do, if not impossible; or be prepared every day for the bigots to terminate you.

To keep, or not to keep

Videos which the police record.  Personally, if a video did exist, then it belongs to both the police department and the citizen on the video.  It should be retained until both parties agree to deletion.  Of course, that could get expensive.  Worth thinking about.

Worst Case Thinking

Bruce links to an essay on it.  Read it, and keep it in mind the next time someone rails on about CCW laws causing “Blood in the streets” type scenarios.

Now that is unexpected

I actually agree with something Obama said.  Granted, it isn’t profound, or anything, but I agree with him, which is new.

“It may make your blood boil. Your mind may not be changed. But the practice of listening to opposing views is essential for effective citizenship,”

Which is part of the reason I read The Progressive, and I know Phil bravely engages FireDogLake.  Also, it’s always good to see what arguments the other side is dreaming up, so you can test your own positions against them.  Not only does it build good mental debate skills, you may (if you are honest with yourself) find a flaw in your own logic that needs to be addressed.
