Answering the Call

You may have seen on Joe’s blog that Caleb of GunNutsMedia.Net was looking for volunteers to lend a hand this weekend with the NRA Washington Open House at the Norpoint Range in Arlington, WA.

I sent off an email and received my mission.

I’ll be helping Caleb work the table on Saturday morning from 10-Noon. You should stop on by if you’re in the area. Especially if you’ve been putting off getting that NRA membership and are done procrastinating.

RNS Quotes of the Day: 09/01/10

I’d like to start this month with optimism, but the current endeavor of the Executive Branch, combined with their track record, means that I’m afraid I cannot do that.

The idea of imposing universal peace on the world by force is a barbarian fantasy.

Garet Garrett

Garrett was originally speaking of the spread of Communism. I believe that he had actually read the Communist Manifesto before most actual Communists and knew of their selective definition of “Peace”.

And because we’re talking here about another American Executive forcing Israel into concessions so that they can have “peace” with the palestinians, here is the classic quote that should be spoken or printed as an intro to every MSM news story on the topic.

In the intifada that began in 2000, Palestinian terrorism killed more than 1,000 Israelis. As a portion of U.S. population, that would be 42,000, approaching the toll of America’s eight years in Vietnam. During the onslaught, which began 10 Septembers ago, Israeli parents sending two children to a school would put them on separate buses to decrease the chance that neither would return for dinner. Surely most Americans can imagine, even if their tone-deaf leaders cannot, how grating it is when those leaders lecture Israel on the need to take “risks for peace.”

George Will

Every MSM story.

UPDATE: And if you ever needed proof of the anti-Isreali attitude that passes for normalcy on the left, try reading this piece of pure propaganda from the Huffington Post.

I will never understand how someone justifies what Hamas does.

Hell, I will never understand how a “journalist” could interview those people without killing them after “Question Time” was over.

Not very good “watchdogs”

It’s the (D) that calms them.

Watchdogs are divided over whether the ethics committee should immediately investigate Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas).

Johnson has been accused of awarding thousands of dollars in college scholarships to four relatives as well as the child of a top aide over the past 5 years.

Johnson reportedly used Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Foundation funds to dole out the scholarships, even though the recipients were ineligible under the nonprofit’s rules, according to a report by The Dallas Morning News.

Meredith McGehee, policy director for the Campaign Legal Center, said it appears that Johnson used her position to benefit a family member, which at the very least may have violated the Code of Ethics for Government Service.

But Melanie Sloan, executive director for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, believes any investigation should begin with CBC Foundation executives because Johnson violated its rules. Sloan believes the foundation should do a full investigation and issue a public report on the circumstances surrounding the scholarships.

“While awarding scholarships to relatives is inexcusable in any event, the more serious question is whether Rep. Johnson knew she was violating the rules when she made the awards,” Sloan said.

CREW isn’t sure that she knew funneling scholarship monies to relatives was illegal?

But ask them about the recently exonerated Tom DeLay, who went through six years of being investigated by multiple branches of the federal government, and they’ll say that he “Must answer for his crimes.”

“Non-Partisan Watchdog Group” my pasty white ass.

This is what happens

When a city refuses to control its population of vagrants.

A 35-year-old Seattle man is facing assault and hate crime charges following allegations that he accosted a clerk at a Queen Anne convenience store.

According to police, Brock Stainbrook derided the man as being a terrorist during the Tuesday morning incident.

Writing the court, a Seattle detective said Stainbrook entered the 7-11 store in at 362 Denny Way. The clerk was standing near a coffee machine when Stainbrook accosted him.

“For unknown reasons a person threw change on the floor near the victim’s feet then punched the victim on the left side of the head,” the detective said.

“After the suspect struck (the clerk) with his fist he said, ‘You’re not even American, you’re Al-Qaeda. Go back to your country.'”

Another employee then stepped in, forcing Stainbrook to leave the store. As he did so, police allege the man tried to kick the second employee and damaged a barcode scanner.

Police arrested Stainbrook walking nearby minutes later. Confronted by police, he allegedly admitted that he “struck a person on his turban” because he disliked him. While the alleged victim’s ethnic background is not noted in court documents, his surname is common within the Sikh community.

Stainbrook has been charged with fourth-degree assault and malicious harassment, Washington state’s hate crime statute.

The entirety of the leftosphere is, of course, laying the blame for this attack on FOX News and the various tea party orgs for their “spreading of hate”.

Sadly for them, this end of town is where all the bums go during the summer because it contains the Seattle Center, Space Needle, Experience Music Project, The Science Fiction Museum and attracts a large portion of the tourists that come to Seattle. The only other place you’ll find a population of hobos even close to this is the Seattle Waterfront District, and that is just because the latter is within walking distance of Pioneer Square. And I would lay a fiver down that this guy is among our “transient population”.

The likelihood that this guy has a TV to watch FOX on is minuscule, and the only AM radio he probably gets to hear is when he wanders up to cars to beg for change at the stop light.

Fact Checking

A reporter laments the death of journalistic fact checking.

A blogger gives a perfect example of the same.

It’s getting such that the accuracy of facts in the MSM is about as consistent as the facts on a conspiracy theory website.

Keep it in the holster, buddy

It’s the best way to keep something from pulling that trigger for you

PS, Blewett Pass, seriously?

Yes, the guy deserves to be shot

No, I don’t want the executive branch to have the legal authority to do so prior to a finding of guilty in a court of law.
