The Final

And, as promised, though a little bit late, here is the final draft of the report I was assigned in my English 127 course.

As you’ll probably remember, I decided, after a small argument with the instructor, on the topic of Legalizing Prostitution. The guy was only barely able to keep himself from telling me “No” on this topic. And then once he thought about me conducting interviews with local working girls, I was informed that they weren’t going to be necessary and that their inclusion would be unwanted.

So sorry guys, no pics of “Ladies of the Evening”. Though I did do a decent amount of research into the topic and have the contact info of some very middle of the price spectrum and up ladies for you local dudes, if anyone wants it.

The assignment instructions stated that a “catchy” or eye grabbing” title was a good idea, so I decided to make some word play on the movie title “Legends of the Fall”. Sadly, it appears that that movie is too old and one of the complaints I repeatedly got in the forums was that they didn’t understand the title. Whippersnappers.

The very last assignment in this class was a “Self Assessment” paper, in which we were supposed to describe what we’d learned/discovered/liked/disliked/etc. during the class. It is moderately interesting and I’ll probably post that up Wednesday.

Below the fold you’ll find it in all 12 pages of its glory (when double spaced, minus the four pages of literary and other research references). I hope you enjoy it. I think I made the case pretty well.

My grade on this final draft was a 3.25.

If wishes were horses…

Let me start by saying that like many others, I am dissappointed by the field. I don’t think any of the Republicans in the race right now have a chance to beat Obama in ’12. I mostly like Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann, but they have no chance. I say right now because Rick Perry is not in the race yet.

Here is his speech today at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans.

You can hear some in the crowd shouting, “Run, Rick, Run!” If he did run, I strongly believe that he would win the Republican nomination. He is everything that Mitt Romney wishes he could be. Governor Perry could simple campaign on his economic record in Texas for the last 11 years. There is no doubt that the economy will be the #1 concern unless Obummer can pull off some kind of miracle in the next year. And if Perry did win the Republican nomination, I would like to see him choose Lieutenant Colonel Allen West for VP.

If you listen closely through the noise from the audience, you can hear that he sure knows his Islamic history. I love how outspoken and fearless he is. There is no pause to self-censor before his responses.

So what say you? Who can beat the iWon?

His time to shine

Governor Perry, destiny is holding for you on on Line 1.

Imagine, a politician with a spine.

Earlier this year, the Texas House passed State Rep. David Simpson’s bill to protect traveler’s dignity and basic civil rights by clarifying that TSA employees do not have immunity from TX criminal code simply because they are “following orders” from a rogue bureaucracy in Washington, D.C.

Unfortunately, the bill was pulled in the State Senate without receiving a vote during the regular session after the DOJ stepped in and basically threatened to turn Texas into a “no-fly zone.”

The bill can now only come under consideration again during the special session of the legislature if the Governor himself adds it to the list of bills to be taken up during the special session.

Put it on the list and do some one-on-one lobbying to get it passed. Tens of millions of Americans will praise his name and remember it when they are standing in the voting booth (or if you are a Washington State voter, when you are at your kitchen table voting on your mail-in ballot because the state legislature will not allow you to vote at a polling station).

Error in Guerena Search Warrant Affidavit?

This is probably trivial, but I thought it worth mentioning:

In the affidavit in support of the search warrant for residences including Jose Guerena’s home, the affidavit text lists the residence as being at ___ S. Redwater in Tucson, yet the appendix describing the properties lists only ___ W. Redwater.

I’m guessing this is just a typo, but again, thought it was interesting. The affidavit itself is very much worth reading all the way through.
