Marko pointed this out, so did Raganwald.
Who lotta Duh!
…for Atlas Shrugged Part 2, which is filming now with significant cast changes.
More on Samantha’s casting here. The second film of the trilogy is expected to be longer due to audience feedback, incorporating more of the plot details from the books. This is a very good thing, IMO.
As for the casting, Taylor Schilling did a decent job, but she just wasn’t quite Dagny to me. And whether it was due to the direction, hasty filming schedule or the script, I didn’t feel one bit of chemistry between Dagny and Rearden in the first film.
On a pop trivia note, Mathis is the daughter of Bibi Besch, so that makes for one degree of separation between this Dagny and Captain Kirk, as Besch played the mother of Kirk’s son…
Hmm….

Father… Son… Daughter?
Why, I believe I’ve stumbled onto the capitalist/heroic equivalent of Philip Jose Farmer’s Tarzan/Batman connection!
Dagny Taggart is James T. Kirk’s secret love child, transported back through time to be raised by the Taggarts and fulfill her destiny at the head of Taggart Transcontinental….
Don’t believe me? Read this and tell me that Dagny doesn’t share many of Kirk’s personality traits.

Good place to start when putting your bug-out bag together, as well.
My PoliSci 202 essay has finally been graded and returned. And as promised, it is posted and now resides below the fold.
If you want a link or other connection to any of the info presented within the essay, send me an email or leave a comment with the notation (not italicized) and I’ll send it your way.
I’ll put the grade I received at the end of the post. I was happy enough about it. Yes, the title of this post was the title of the essay.
So, without further ado,
–The Age of the Shadow Bank Run, by Tyler Cowen in Saturday’s New York Times.
My brother-in-law Sammy Ruiz, former World Deaf Magician, is staying with us while in town for a magic performance. The first thing he asked me for was the login and password to our in-home Wi-Fi network so he could use FaceTime to connect with his wife.
FaceTime’s been a fantastic addition to our own lives, but I’d not realized how much more value it adds to the lives of deaf couples, who can sign away over thousands of miles without effort. Really fun to see.
Attorney General Eric Holser, appointed by President George W. Bush, is amidst a scandal wherein the Justice Department, the BATFE and the Department of Education approved a program that ferried thousands of firearms into schools in advance of a federally funded and sponsored marksmanship program to start in the Fall of the 2012-13 school year.
Sadly, a student in one of Boston’s high schools, who was staying after school for disciplinary reasons, saw the rifles being offloaded and when no one was looking, stole one and used it the next day to kill a teacher.
All of the above named agencies are stonewalling the congressional investigation, sometimes turning over hundreds of pages which are completely blacked out and using “Executive Privilege” as their reasoning.
During this investigation, a video tape from 1996 surfaces showing the current AG stating that he would like to be able to “brainwash people into thinking about firearms in a vastly different and good way.”
What do you think the left’s and the media’s (though I repeat myself) reaction would be?
Well, unless they want to admit they’re hypocrites, their reaction would be to shrug their shoulders and say little to nothing, since that is what John Aravosis and his sycophants at the inappropriately named AmericaBlog are doing about the story current NOT running in the MSM because it’s racist.
