I’m not exactly sure that fact-checking the Obama media-mule “fact-checkers” will help you all keep your sanity, but hearing that “Government is the only thing we all belong to” certainly will not, so here are two good examples of the idea.
BTW, I’ve been looking for any mainstream media coverage on that line and, unsurprisingly, I found none. Anyone who believes there isn’t a leftist bent to the media is lying to themselves.

It’s day two of the DNC in Charlotte, NC. There was not much silliness yesterday, but they’re just getting warmed up.
Here is a gem from Sunday, wherein the left whines about the Democratic Party’s media representatives being asked the same question every other media representative of the party in the White House has been asked during every election since 1980, including McCain’s reps in 2008: Are Americans better off now than they were four years ago?
But because this President and his media representatives cannot answer in the affirmative without lying, the left has decided to label the members of the media who ask the question as “Lazy”, “Incompetent”, and as “Hacks”.
While the source is not clear, someone developed a simple way to identify incompetent news reporters. If you hear a reporter ask people in President Obama’s administration, ideally in a belligerent tone, “are the American people better off than they were four years ago?,”the reporter is trying to tell you that they are not qualified to do their job.
The reason we know that the questioners are incompetent reporters is that this is a pointless question. Suppose your house is on fire and the firefighters race to the scene. They set up their hoses and start spraying water on the blaze as quickly as possible. After the fire is put out, the courageous news reporter on the scene asks the chief firefighter, “is the house in better shape than when you got here?”
They are not at all disillusioned. They’re just delusional.

Anyway, try not to laugh yourself to death this week. If you do die, you can guess where they’ll get your vote to go.

I’ve been trying to find a simple to understand analogy to explain the $716 Billion that got counted twice (in the negative for Medicare, in the positive to Obamacare), because even the honest media is not being helpful in explaining it.
I thought you all might want to review and borrow it during the next couple months. Even if you’re not planning on voting for Romney, it is helpful to pull the veil back for some folks.
Here’s the pitch from the White House:
The government owns a house on Medicare Street, but they also wanted to buy a high rise condominium on Obamacare Blvd.
They didn’t actually have the money to pay for both of them, so they’re short-paying the holder of the mortgage of the Medicare Street house by 30% and give it to the mortgage holder of the condo loan. I don’t know why the condo loan holder said OK and sold them the condo. Maybe he didn’t read their credit report or something?
Quick, simply, easy explanation.
When the person you’re telling this to says that that is a crazy plan, remind them that Congress passed the bill without reading it, so this insanity is actually par for the course for them.
Alternate Title: What you’ll be hearing the left talk about at their convention next week.
At the DNC next week, the Democrats will be beginning their campaign to try and change the language in the debate of our nation’s economy. One new phrase you will be hearing repeated over and over will be “Prosperity Economics”. They believe that this phrase is the alternate to what is being described by both sides as “Austerity”, but which is nothing of the kind.
Nothing has really changed here. Their plan is still to increase taxes on “The Rich” to pay for more freebees to “The Poor”. Unfortunately for those who are going to fall for this tripe, there aren’t enough “Rich People” to soak for the necessary funding, which will lead to more deficit spending that the nation cannot afford (unless you’re one of those Keynesians on crack, like Paul Krugman).
Here is the quick and dirty version:
Prosperity economics is built on three pillars: growth, security and democracy. These pillars reinforce one another and are intertwined politically and economically.
• Dynamic, innovation-led growth, grounded in job creation, public investment and broad opportunity
We must take immediate action to jumpstart our sagging economy. In the future, we need to invest in people and productivity that will lead to good jobs and rising wages. These resources are best raised through a progressive tax structure that supports the middle class; no more tax giveaways for corporations and super rich.
• Democratic voice, inclusivity and accountability in Washington and the workplace
Money is increasingly corrupting and corroding democracy. When economic winners are allowed to write the economic rules, the rest of America becomes poorer and our political system weaker. For democracy to thrive, strong Unions, and empowered citizens and community organizations are needed to ensure that workers and the broader public have an organized, effective voice in our politics.
Yes, it is more of the same, but the packaging is slick and “backed up” by some new lackeys with letters after their names.

This “plan” follows none of the basic tenets of modern economics. Seriously, if you read this plan and then attempted to pass a 100 or 200 college level course in Economics, you would fail. I should know, I just got my “A” grade in Econ 202 (aka: Macroeconomics) from last quarter and am looking to snag a second top of class grade in Econ 201 (aka: Microeconomics) this Fall.
But all that aside, do watch for this and figure out your in-person and online arguments now, because if you wait, the minions will be speaking the new language before you can figure out what they’re saying.
So, some dude in NYC goes and whacks his old boss. As he is leaving the scene, a pair of “New York’s finest” try and stop the guy, and in the process, pull out their heaters and miss the perp at least NINE TIMES and instead hit nine bystanders.
And now, Bloomberg gets to talk about “gun violence” and gets to use this as another excuse as to why I can’t carry a gun in NYC?
Really, WTF?
UPDATE:
Here is the video from one of the many ground level security cameras around the Empire State Building.
You’ll see the perp enter from the top of the video walking along the outside of the planter bollards and then a couple seconds later you see the NYPD enter the frame running. The perp pulls his gun from his bag and points it at the officers, and the officers quickly draw and fire. As is plain, the distance of the shootout is between 5 and 20 feet. The perp looks to get one shot off and the officers get multiple shots off.
This report says that one officer got 7 shots off and the other got 9 off. Only 7 hit the perp. Each of the other 9 found “other targets”, per the NYPD. That is less than a 44% hit ratio, or more than a 56% miss ratio.
As Mollbot mentions in the comments below, I have never had to return fire at an active shooter at less than 20ft from me (I have at longer distances), however, I believe that my prior outside a range lane training would give me a better than 50% hit ratio.
