Apparently, this is not a rule the children learn in the Eurozone

German euro founder calls for ‘catastrophic’ currency to be broken up

Oskar Lafontaine, the German finance minister who launched the euro, has called for a break-up of the single currency to let southern Europe recover, warning that the current course is “leading to disaster”.

“The economic situation is worsening from month to month, and unemployment has reached a level that puts democratic structures ever more in doubt,” he said.

“The Germans have not yet realised that southern Europe, including France, will be forced by their current misery to fight back against German hegemony sooner or later,” he said, blaming much of the crisis on Germany’s wage squeeze to gain export share.

Mr Lafontaine said on the parliamentary website of Germany’s Left Party that Chancellor Angela Merkel will “awake from her self-righteous slumber” once the countries in trouble unite to force a change in crisis policy at Germany’s expense.

While his hindsight is 20/15 or better, I do no think that anyone should listen to his predictions. If this guy had any idea about what was going on, he would realize that there are still a good number of cards left for the Germans to play, no matter what the other national governments do.

Yes, there are still cards for them to play. The problem is that the order they are played in only changes who gets shot with what, and in what order. It doesn’t change the body-count.

I’m laughing myself sick here. I’ve been waiting for this for a decade.

The European Union is a bureaucrat’s wet dream: tens of thousands of high-paying, can’t-get-fired, utterly unaccountable quango positions issuing diktats criminalizing everyone in Europe who has a flower or vegetable garden and who has had the unspeakable, criminal temerity to plant an “unapproved” seed:

It was predictable, and predicted, that it would rapidly become a Kafkaesque nightmare. It was predictable, and predicted, that the EU could serve no constructive purpose from the very beginning; what common interests do a Portuguese sheep herder and a Swedish graphic designer have? And how does a vast, unwieldy, unaccountable, unelected, dictatorial, power-mad bureaucracy centered on Brussels serve the interests of either of them?

I will shed no tears for the demise of the EU. The European Common Market was created, after all, with the admitted intent of “making Europe more globally competitive,” which is Newspeak for “waging economic warfare against the US.” The euro was created in the hopes that it would supplant the US dollar as the denomination currency for the global oil trade, which would destroy the US economy utterly.

This is gonna be GOOD. Who wants some popcorn?

(can’t post links, but there is an article about this in The Blaze for 05/08/2013 about this)

It was predictable, and predicted, that the EU could serve no constructive purpose for any of the people whom it purports to represent from the very beginning; what common interests do a Portuguese sheep herder and a Swedish graphic designer have? And how does a vast, unwieldy, unaccountable, unelected, dictatorial, power-mad bureaucracy centered on Brussels serve the interests of either of them?
