Should one see Part 1 before watching Part 2, if someone has never watched Part 1 nor read the book? I want to see this with my fiancee, but she hasn’t seen part 1 or read the book.

You need to see part one. Wath I on Netflix. But be prepared because the actors change in the 2nd part.
I’d agree with Scott, although I am assuming they’ve made Part 2 accessible enough to newbies who might be going in cold that they’d still understand the film, if not all of the nuances.
DFWMTX, I was wrong. Just got back from the movie and it stands on its own. Leagues better than Part 1, and there’s enough exposition that the key events of the prior film are dispensed with early on and you’re moved right in to the action. Go see it now.
