Not Every Astronaut Goes Home At The End of His Shift

If you think, as I do, that the whole “all cops must go home at the end of their shift” mentality carries costs for society, consider that a variant of the same idea as applied to astronauts may well cause the costs of manned space exploration to skyrocket–if it hasn’t already. (I think it has — and no, Virgin Galactic doesn’t count — that’s space tourism, something else entirely).
