Impressionist High Intensity

From Boomershoot 2012. This is what happens when you leave the camera on the macro setting. Oops. For what it’s worth, this is almost exactly the way the world looks to me without glasses or contact lenses.

Shelley Rae and 30CalGal were shooting just to my right. I’m shooting Rache, my Socom II in .308. The sights were spot-on! This Socom is a very easy rifle for me to shoot accurately. The 13″ LOP fits me very well, and the sights are great! As per Boston, a 25 yard zero gets you a 200 yard zero at the same time.

This was the first time I’d run this rifle since it failed on the line last Boomershoot. This time, it ran like a top except for some issues with a stuck magazine and a couple of oddball failures to feed. I’m thinking it might be the ammo. Will need to explore this. Still, I am quite pleased with this rifle.

Next up: mag change drills! Also need to scan for targets without lowering the rifle.

In my Defensive Handgun class with Louis Awerbuck he went on for quite a bit about how, since ATK bought a bunch of ammo companies, the quality of the product from a number of sources has really dropped remarkably, and he sees a LOT of ammo-related problems (in class) – which is pistol-based and may just be anecdotal…
