As promised in my Boomershoot Prep post, I like to bring different stuff to the high intensity portions of Boomershoot. After all was said and done on Saturday’s H I shooting, I’d have to say that it was one of the highlights of the weekend for me. I had such a great time shooting, racking, shooting, racking, shooting and actually hitting and setting of the boomers. Hmmmm . . . rackashootabooma . rackashootabooma
My only regret is that I didn’t bring more boxes of Buffalo Bore’s Heavy .38-55 cartridges. Now I realize that my old Winnie doesn’t have a hi-cap magazine, but racking one into the chamber and then loading six more into the loading gate gave me seven awesome chances for each reload to slam lead into the boomers.
I didn’t keep track of my hits and detonations, but it felt like I was in the 60% range for hitting them and most all the hits did detonate the rascals. There was one that I must have hit a skosh low and sent it about 15 feet into the air.
Overall, not bad for a 106 year old rifle.
