It appears that they took advantage of someone’s Christmas Sale
The Finnish authorities have impounded an Isle of Man-flagged ship bound for China with undeclared missiles and explosives, officials say.
Police are questioning the crew of the MS Thor Liberty after what were described as 69 Patriot anti-missile missiles were found aboard.
Interior Minister Paivi Rasanen said the missiles were marked “fireworks”.
The MS Thor Liberty had docked in the Finnish port of Kotka after leaving Germany last week.
Dock workers became suspicious after finding explosives poorly stored on open pallets, and the missiles were then found in containers marked “fireworks”.
That sounds like my kind of “fireworks”. And my kind of Christmas sale!
I wonder what tipped them off? Did they find it odd that “fireworks” were head TO China instead of the other way around?
Somewhere, a Supply Colonel needs to get his Leavenworth ticket punched for this. If the US Army can either lose (outright) 69 patriot missiles, or give them to an “ally” who can lose track of them (or sell them to the highest bidder), we are in deep doo-doo, and so should be all the military brass and DOD people involved.
This bears a wider look. What other highly sensitive weapons system components have gone to our enemies?
Other voices I’ve heard say that the ship was headed to South Korea first. The Patriots would’ve been offloaded there, and this was all part of some routine if covert weapons transfer from US to the S.Koreans/
Typical Pentagon stunt then, dfwmtx. We’d have gotten much more mileage out of this if we’d have let the Norks KNOW that we were re-enforcing the ROK defenses. Besides, there are spies everywhere. Just how far would this subterfuge have gotten on the docks of Pusan when the dockworkers, including may commie spies, would have seen those containers/crates labeled “fireworks from Germany” being hauled off by the ROK Army?
This one wasn’t well thought through. Those missiles should have been transported by USAF air cargo aircraft.
Obama’s idiocy has percolated down though the ranks to the people in charge of carrying out the orders, and that tells me, Putin, the Chinese PLA and everyone else concerned that we are ripe for the plucking.
