Life is strange

Yesterday I had to go to my local ACE Hardware to get a gallon of low-odor paint.  I had to get some help since I needed a color match, so I found an employee I’ve worked with in the past.  He’s a very nice, friendly, helpful old hippy with long grey hair and (usually) a tie-dyed shirt, so I enjoy seeking him out when I need help.  What can I say, my parents were hippies, a lot of their friends were, it’s a familiar demographic to me.

Anyway, as he is mixing the pigments, we get into an interesting discussion of how pigments work, and how their application is often times counter-intuitive, and how neat that all is.  I off-handedly remarked that the rules get even stranger when you are talking about colors of light, and he replies that that is so true, and he has to teach people about light when he is teaching them to see & read auras!

And I’m a bit taken aback, wondering how we went from discussing the scientific principles of colors through two different domains, to auras?  o_O

And then I am thanking my mom for being the weirdo hippy that she was, and for teaching me all about auras and “listening” when I was a kid, because I could actually hold a conversation with this guy while my paint mixed, without there being an uncomfortable silence.

Thanks mom, I miss you.
