I’m totally stoked, one of the best sci-fi books to come out in a while. Hope the movie lives up to it.
This is just a rights option… frankly I doubt the movie ever sees a greenlight given todays hollywood.
Actually, I’m guessing it’s being pitched to the studios primarily as a vehicle with fantasy appeal for aging baby boomers — “fountain of youth = built-in audience” — rather than emphasizing the sci-fi aspects. That might give it some better chances than the usual sci-fi flick.
Hope they don’t mess it up.
I am still hoping they get some John Ringo movies done – I like him (politically) a lot better than Scalzi. And, while Old Man’s War is great, the sequels drop off fast – Ringo seems to get stronger as a series goes on.
Two words: Starship Troopers.
I hope you mean the book, not the terrible movie.
John Ringo is a master storyteller, no matter the genre. His subject matter in the Ghost (Paladin of Shadows) series is a bit… far afield for me, I guess, but the stories are still well-told. Truly, I would love to see “A Hymn Before Battle” and its sequels on the big screen, if they can adapt them properly.
