Nice high-mobility rig. Probably a dope seizure. Probably more comfortable than my M35A2, but won’t carry as much. Might need this type of vehicle at Boomershoot 2011, though.

I dont know if it shows in the pic all that well but the side armpr plating was severely angled — presumably to make RPGs bounce off?!!

  3. It’s one of the many varieties of MRAP, the Cougar model I think.

Are they expecting IEDs in the ‘hood? And they’re not good high-mobility rigs – they handle like crap off road, because the suspension it too stiff. One of the main reasons for the switch to the M-ATV.

I’m going to guess that the company that makes these decided to market them to the po-po when their .mil gravy train dried up.

Yah, it’s a mine resistant vehicle. Most likely some of unkle sugar’s FREE DRUG MONEY bought one so the cops have something to put on TV when they bust the local “drug house” with 2-3 oz of pot. Thing only costs about $350,000 when you buy them by the thousand. Wonder what kind of deal the jackboots got for this one?

Hooray for the fiscally responsible, small government, drug war!

A van wouldn’t have sufficed? Or was this picture taken in Fallujah?

Angled plating increases the effective thickness of the armor without adding weight and deflects blasts. Think about it in terms of straight on shot through a vertical plate or an angled plate.
