Over the holiday weekend in a public housing complex just north of St. Louis, MO the fire department was responding to a emergency call of a dumpster fire. When they arrived the residents fired rockets and threw large fireworks at them. The same thing happened to the police when they responded to the calls from the firefighters.
And as of Tuesday, the fight was still going on, with police firing pepper balls at the hundred or so residents of the complex so that the firefighters can try and fight the multiple arson fires.
I think mass evictions followed by bulldozers is called for to rescue the taxpayer funded property from the horde. Knock it all down with the resident’s property inside, sell the lot to the highest bidder and arrest any squatters for trespassing.
Sadly, what will most likely happen is the state will just come in an fix it all up like brand new and give it back to them like nothing ever happened.
Stop responding to the fire calls first. If the structures are burned, it means you don’t have to pay for as much blade time with the dozers.
Oh, and let the police respond with lethal force. The threshold is “death or grave bodily injury,” and fireworks are easily capable of causing grave bodily injury.
