*Yes I know the original quote includes the jury box. Look, I’m here to tell you that IMO the jury box doesn’t work anymore, fora long list of reasons. Where resistance against the state is concerned, prosecutors’ abuse of their license/discretion is at the top of it. And don’t get me started on the civil side of things. So as far as I’m concerned that box doesn’t count.
Yes I’m an attorney. No, I am not your attorney, and nothing in this post constitutes legal advice or opinion.
agreed
How do you feel about jury nullification?
I don’t think FFT applies in our situation if we’re going to take Mr. Howdershelt’s advice about the order of the boxes.
We don’t get to try out box #2 for another eight months…
Everything seems to be flowing along like honey stored in the freezer regarding the progression from box to box as far as I’m concerned.
ET, I love JN. I even used it to win a mock trial in law school — although I’d barely gotten the idea uttered to the “jury” (my classmates) before the “judge” (our instructor) warned he’d sanction me if I continued. But the point was made and I won the case because of it, according to the jurors.
Rex, I guess I’m thinking that in the internet era, more folks seem entirely willing to skip the ballot box.
Interesting point, David. I find plenty of reasons to take issue with the instant gratification generation. Instant access to information, people, and technology seems to have made people unwilling to devote more than a few seconds to a pursuit of career, love, or intellect.
But if the only positive side effect of it is a faster boil on political anger, I’ll sing its praises to my grave 🙂
