You know what “They” say

“They” say that it takes a Carter to get a Reagan. I’d just like to add that it takes a Nixon/Ford to get a Carter.

GWB and the Republican controlled Congress, and the bad press they got, disgusted the American populace to the point where we are now.

Hopefully, Gallup getting these results is a sign of better voting habits ahead.

More Americans now say it is not the federal government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage (50%) than say it is (47%). This is a first since Gallup began tracking this question, and a significant shift from as recently as three years ago, when two-thirds said ensuring healthcare coverage was the government’s responsibility.

They’ve been asking this question since at least the end of the Clinton era. It’s taken a decade, but let us hope that the trend for less government continues.

That isn’t a trend for less government you’re looking at, and I don’t think the poll was meant to show that choice.

It’s simply a measurement of how much people believe in their government’s power to effect positive change in their lives.

Fewer and fewer people believe that their gov’t can effect positive changes in their lives.

The extension of that thought that these new cynics will actually DO something about their new-found disdain for more pervasive government is dangerous, however.

Poll after poll shows that the decision-chain to get the people to turn out this government at the polls is not yet complete.

I’m not just waiting for the “next Reagan.” I want ROLLBACK! I’m tired of the ratchet effect of incremental legislation. I want whole swaths of it dialed back. Reset carried to another level.

We can start with Ted Kennedy’s immigration legislation that gave us the “anchor baby” crap.
