Envious

JD of Ballistic Deanimation is where I wanted to be right now.

Imagine that Press Pass with the name “David” and “Random Nuclear Strikes” and you’ve got my dream right there. Ah well, there’s definitely next year….

Heh, the first comment on the CSMonitor article he linked is classic uninformed anti-gun bigotry. “Susan” manages to distill nearly every ignorant viewpoint regarding guns… surprise surprise, she’s from Seattle.

The message I get from all of this?

Be nice to the 800# gorilla.

The NRA is STILL on my #$%& list for it’s direct-mail marketing, and no amount of glitzy conventions or ego-stroking press passes to gunbloggers will change THAT.

If the NRA would be honest (but what organization in DeeCee can?) and tell us what the cost of their mega-mail marketing is, I bet some of us could find some use for those bucks to help defeat attacks on the Second Amendment.

I don’t buy ANY argument that all the cheaper-by-the-ton solicitations are producing more than they would bring in by demonstrating serious and TOTAL opposition to attacks on the 2A.

And how about all that schlock insurance they sell? Or the NRA credit cards? Just tell me how THAT crap helps to defend the 2A?

The NRA sucks, but since they are the 800# gorilla of gun advocacy, they always get a pass.

Just don’t ask me to be impressed when they give out a pass…

David, next years in Charlotte. If I can make it, hopefully I’ll see you there.

I didn’t get to see Gene Hoffman, either. I did speak with John Fields, the CRPA Executive Director, who gave me some insight into some stuff thats in store for us. I would have liked to talk to Gene, though.
