The Caroline Kennedy Conspiracy Theory

Okay, last one. Remember how Bush chose Dick Cheney for veep after Cheney vetted everybody else, and Bush was left thinking Cheney was the best-qualified of ’em all? Well, it’s a bit farfetched, but those in the Obama Must Choose A Woman camp who, unlike me, think Obama won’t pick Hillary, have put forth Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as the other option.

But wait! What about the Cheney parallel? That would be Caroline Kennedy, daughter of JFK.
Considering how this photo of a young Bill and JFK energized the base in 1992, I think an Obama-Kennedy ticket would be pretty attractive. Others do too. From Insty:

READER KEVIN GREEN thinks he knows who Obama wants for VP: “Obama has chosen Caroline Kennedy to be his running mate in a bid to include a woman who is not Hillary Clinton. Kennedy is the only woman Democrats would accept who is not Hillary.” Hmm.

I dunno. It’d be an attractive ticket, too be sure, but that’s about it. Way too vulnerable on other counts. My money’s still on Hillary.

Caroline Kennedy is a heart-string plucker, nothing more. Given that the “swing” voters who do the electing are brighter than the average Democrat, I have faith that they would see through the obvious ploy and note that there were now TWO empty suits on the ticket.

I think that the same educated swing voters will see that Sebelius is an anomaly in her own state, a liberal Democrat in a Red State, and the stories of her conflicts with the will of her people, etc will come out, and she will be seen as just a choice to have a skirt on the crew. She has, at least, SOME governing experience, but it’s Kansas, for Christ’s sake. For revenue, Kansas grows wheat and corn, both commanding twice their usual price levels, and the state is awash in funds, so governing it isn’t exactly rocket science. The (D)onks in KS can’t be too happy with her consideration, if she’s plucked away, the state goes back to Red.

Sebelius has barely more experience than Obama.

Now we see the true pattern: Obama will refuse to pick a Veep of substance, because he will SERIOUSLY suffer the inevitable comparisons of experience. So, it stands to reason that he will pick the empty suit he thinks will do him the most good.

The interesting thing to me is that both Sebelius and Tim Kaine, the two favorites in the MSM, have really really bad NRA ratings.

The Dems haven’t learned a thing if they pick either of those two.
