Score One for the Good Guys

The Tiahrt Amendment passed in the House Appropriations Committee yesterday, much to the PBS NewsHour’s chagrin. An even stronger version — the Shelby Amendment, which goes so far as to impose criminal penalties on LEOs who misuse trace data — earlier passed in the Senate Appropriations Committee. So now both houses’ budget bills have a version of the Tiahrt Amendment, which means it’s extremely unlikely that any final compromise budget will fail to include it.
